Marie - simple and beautiful or plain and dated?

Today I met the most lovely little girl named [name]Marie[/name] (mn [name]Annabel[/name]) aged 6. I’m not sure how everybody else feels but I normally think of [name]Marie[/name] as being slighly dated or as a bit of a ‘filler’ middle name, however after witnessing it used on this young girl it’s made me htink that perhaps it is one of those names that is beautiful and elegant in a way only simple but classic names are. What do you all think? Is [name]Marie[/name] a dated choice or is it pretty and fresh as a first name for a little one?
Thanks!

My sister’s middle name is [name]Marie[/name] and she’s always hated it. She feels that it’s just a filler name. We’ve both met countless other girls with [name]Marie[/name] as a middle name. I personally feel that it’s too plain as a first name or a middle name sorry. I would prefer [name]Maria[/name]. They’re both too common and plain for my tastes though.

As a middle name, it’s boring and a filler. As a first name, it oozes elegance and beauty. It’s funny how meeting someone with a name we once thought so little of can change our opinion on it completely.

I’m honestly not a fan, although I’m one of those people with [name]Marie[/name] for a MN, and it feels so blah and dated to me. [name]Marie[/name] has always seemed very harsh and unattractive to me, rather than light and classic. I was intrigued when I met a [name]Marie[/name] a couple years ago, but I have to say I prefer [name]Maria[/name] one hundredfold.

That’s what I thought! She was a real sweetheart! Are you by any chance a ‘Hunger Games’ fan cnk-tdcc? [name]Just[/name] had a look at your top names in your signature and I couldn’t help notice they all feature in the books

I feel like its a filler name, my great-great grandmother was named [name]Marie[/name], and now it runs as a middle name in my family, but it seems like a filler to me, I definitely wouldn’t use it as a first name, [name]Maria[/name] more likely, but still probably not (I feel the same way about the name [name]Anne[/name], sorry if I offend anyone) Its too plain and simple for my liking.

In the middle it’s so dull and boring. But as a first, it’s a breath of fresh air to me. I love it as a first.

I actually love it as a first or a middle:) Everyone says it is a filler, but there is a reason for it in my opinion. It is pretty, simple and flows well with many names. I do understand why people don’t care for it though as it is used in the middle SO much and if that is your middle you may feel that is not unique for you because so many people have it. That being said, I really do like it for either.

I think it’s great as a first name, and I also think it’s fine as a middle as long as it has special meaning and flows well with the other names.

You got me! I am, yes! I’ve been meaning to update my signature for some time now, but my main name inspiration is The Hunger Games. So many beautiful names! Now it’s my turn to deduce what you’re a fan of… Hmm… Couldn’t be [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] by any chance, could it, Professor?

I find it refreshing as a first name and boring as a middle name.

[name]Marie[/name] is the ultimate middle name. It sounds good with everything, no matter how weird. [name]Diamond[/name] [name]Marie[/name], Adromeda [name]Marie[/name], [name]Io[/name] [name]Marie[/name]…even [name]Bradley[/name] [name]Marie[/name] and [name]David[/name] [name]Marie[/name] have a nice ring! Because of this, it’s definitely massively overused in the middle place. But I really like it up front. It’s sweet, pretty, and surprisingly substantial.

I personally think its plain and overused.

I love it as a first name.

A filler middle name, but a classic, light first name.

[name]Marie[/name] is one of those names that has a completely different personality depending on where it’s used in a name. As a middle name, it really is dull and dated, but as a first name, I think it shines. It’s very elegant and so pretty.

I prefer [name]Mara[/name]; as it has the same “bitter” meaning as [name]Marie[/name], [name]Maria[/name], and [name]Mary[/name].

I actually like [name]Marie[/name] as a first name. It is nice and different. To me it shows that the parents like what they like and don’t want to follow trends. It is cute.

I have to say, I love [name]Marie[/name], and [name]Maria[/name] too. [name]Both[/name] are gorgeous and absolutely classic. I think they are so pretty. I hate to see [name]Marie[/name] always tucked away in the mn spot, when it has so much potential as a lovely and timeless fn.

Wow, I was just thinking this morning about [name]Marie[/name] or [name]Maria[/name] as a first name. I even thought about starting a post about it but you beat me to it! I personally like it… though I maybe like [name]Maria[/name] better.
