[name]One[/name] of our top picks for a future girl is [name]Grace[/name]. Hubby and I have been searcing for a great middle name and we’re really liking [name]Marielle[/name]. It’s [name]Marian[/name] and a bit unexpected. But how should we spell it? I like how [name]Mariel[/name] seems stream lined but prefer that [name]Marielle[/name] doesn’t have a geographical reference. Anyone have any impressions of the two?
Also this just occured to me but my oldest daughter is [name]Clare[/name] [name]Michelle[/name]. Is [name]Grace[/name] [name]Marielle[/name] too close? If it were just the two of them I’d think yes, but with three brothers and another sister [name]Katharine[/name] [name]Rose[/name] I don’t think it would matter. Is that an argument in favor of [name]Grace[/name] [name]Mariel[/name]?
I much prefer [name]Marielle[/name]; [name]Mariel[/name] looks a bit like a misspelt [name]Muriel[/name] to me and I would pronounce them slightly differently too; [name]Marielle[/name] rhyming with [name]Danielle[/name] and [name]Mariel[/name] Mah-ree-l (ending like [name]Muriel[/name]).
I don’t think it matters if your daughters middles are similar, if it was first names I would, but for middles not so much. The way I would pronounce them [name]Marielle[/name] would be 3 syllables and [name]Michelle[/name] 2, so to me they are not that similar anyway.
I like [name]Marielle[/name] [name]Grace[/name] as an option too…
I like [name]Marielle[/name] but it’s prn “Mah-ree-el” while I think [name]Mariel[/name] is pronounced more like “mary el”, you could probably prn them the same here and it would be fine so in that case aesthetically speaking I like them both the same
Initially I was drawn to [name]Mariel[/name]. I prefer [name]Isabel[/name] to [name]Isabelle[/name]. But then [name]Marielle[/name] started looking more complete. I’d like it pronounced like [name]Mary[/name]-el. Not sure which spellng would best match that pronounciation. Since it’s her middle name though it shouldn’t be too big a deal if the other pronuciation is used (or if she’d prefer that one).
Any other thoughts on pronunciation differences between Mariel and Marielle. Different websites seem to say different things.
I’ve considered [name]Marielle[/name] as a first name, but I just don’t know. Our other kids names are so classic that I’m not sure a [name]Marielle[/name] would fit, but maybe.
I think [name]Mariel[/name] makes the name look more special. The [name]Marielle[/name] spelling allows the name to get mixed up with the countless other -elle names ([name]Janelle[/name], [name]Estelle[/name], etc.) [name]Mariel[/name] is stunning and stylish!
@Lo [name]Marielle[/name] is prn “Mah ree el” because it’s French, [name]Mariel[/name] is prn “mary el” like [name]Mariel[/name] [name]Hemingway[/name] you can listen here:
