Marielle - what do we think?

I really like this name. pn MAH-[name]REE[/name]-[name]EL[/name]. Hubby thinks it’s too girly/fluffy. What do you think? Suggestions for mns would be helpful. Thanks

I think it’s really pretty! You could spell it [name]Mariel[/name] to avoid the frilly-ness…

[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Juliana[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Fiona[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Bridget[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Clementine[/name]

I second the [name]Mariel[/name] suggestion. [name]Do[/name] you like . . .

[name]Mariel[/name] [name]Amity[/name]
[name]Mariel[/name] [name]Bryn[/name]
[name]Mariel[/name] [name]Catriona[/name] (ca-tree-na)
[name]Mariel[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]

[name]Mariel[/name] is quite pretty, though I actually like the frilly-ness of [name]Marielle[/name]. Its quite a popular name here in [name]Texas[/name], and also quite dated and middle aged. It might not be true elsewhere, though, so don’t be put off by that. I pronounce it [name]MARE[/name]-[name]REE[/name]-[name]ELLE[/name], like [name]Mary[/name] + [name]Elle[/name]; is that what you were intending or do you say it [name]MAR[/name]-[name]REE[/name]-[name]ELLE[/name], like the mar- in [name]Martha[/name]? Or is it like [name]MARE[/name]-[name]REE[/name]-[name]EL[/name], like [name]Muriel[/name] with an A? Either one is nice but I think most people would say it like [name]Mary[/name]+[name]Elle[/name]. I also like [name]Mariella[/name], it gives a more contemporary feel to it.

Combinations I like:

[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Katherine[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Juliette[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Scarlet[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Jeanette[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Taylor[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

[name]Hi[/name] I like the frillyness of [name]Marielle[/name], It will be pronounced like [name]Marry[/name]-el (Mah-ree-el). Really not big fan of mary-el as a pn I’m afraid. [name]Just[/name] need some help convincing OH…! It’s a very uncommon name in UK…

As to mn’s we were thinking of:
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Paige[/name]

Quite like the single syllable mn. What do you think?

I love [name]Marielle[/name], and know a sweet and beautiful little girl with the name. (She pronounces it mare-ee-[name]ELLE[/name]/[name]Mary[/name]-[name]ELLE[/name] and [name]Mariel[/name] [name]Hemingway[/name]'s name is mare-ee-ul–same beginning as the [name]Marielle[/name] I know, so pronunciation may be an issue.)

[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Simone[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Violet[/name]

Good luck!

Oops! I missed your post about short middles:

[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Bess[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Grace[/name] (popular)
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (although I think of [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name] shoes)
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Sage[/name]

From your list, I like [name]Marielle[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (although it’s the #1 middle name in the U.S., but I don’t know about the U.K.) and [name]Marielle[/name] [name]June[/name].

Good luck!

I like it, but it is a tad frilly

I knew one [name]Marielle[/name] and one [name]Mariel[/name] and they pronounced it differently

The Former said it [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Elle[/name] the later rhymed with [name]Muriel[/name] more like [name]Mary[/name]-Ill (comparable to [name]Gabrielle[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Danielle[/name] and [name]Daniel[/name])

I actually prefer [name]Mariel[/name] because it is less frilly, a plus for [name]Marielle[/name] is I think the [name]Elle[/name] in suffix seems more current with all the [name]Elle[/name]'s and [name]Ella[/name]'s around

I love [name]Marielle[/name]. It is one of my favorites. I like that [name]Marielle[/name] can be shortened to [name]Elle[/name] or [name]Mari[/name]… and I like [name]Mar[/name]-ee-ell or Ma-ri-elle… beautiful name. Someone suggested [name]Marielle[/name] [name]Eve[/name] and I love that and I also like [name]Marielle[/name] [name]Kaia[/name], [name]Marielle[/name] [name]Delphine[/name], [name]Marielle[/name] [name]Jane[/name]… its beautiful!

[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Muriel[/name]? It’s got the same charm, with none of the frill.

I think it’s beautiful! I don’t think it’s overly frilly, but their are a few nickname options he could use.
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Irene[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Eden[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Alana[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Nadine[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Ava[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Colleen[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name] [name]Adeline[/name]

I like [name]Marielle[/name], pronounced as you said mahr-ee-elle. I do not this is similar to the pronuncation of [name]Mariel[/name]. Like pp said, it is the difference between [name]Gabrielle[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name]. I much prefer [name]Marielle[/name] over [name]Mariel[/name]. I like [name]Mariella[/name] too.
