What are your thoughts on the name [name_f]Marietta[/name_f]? I love the full name but would also probably call her [name_f]Etta[/name_f] for short sometimes. Older brother is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] “Theo.”
I really love [name_f]Marietta[/name_f]! It’s so underused and charming!
Other nn potentials are [name_f]Mari[/name_f], [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] and even [name_u]Ari[/name_u]!
I really like [name_f]Marietta[/name_f]! A great balance of familiar yet uncommon. [name_f]Etta[/name_f] is a sweet and fun nickname.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] make great sibling names (as do [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and Etta!)
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] is bright and pretty! [name_u]Love[/name_u] nn [name_f]Etta[/name_f] too!
I don’t know how common or used [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] is in the US, but as an italian name it’s very rare and old fashioned, not in a positive way (but obv perseption can be subjective). I really love vintage names, but [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] makes me think about an old woman of the countryside, not an aristocrat lady. In another country, without all this background, I find [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] a classy choice that can easly go with names that make me think of a golden, sophisticated lady, like [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], Dorothy…
She’s really sweet and sunny! Her sound is familiar and cozy but still pretty different from most of the [name_u]Mar[/name_u]- names. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nicknames too. I’ve met one before and she wore it well!
Marietta’s so pretty and I’m not really a fan of -ette/etta names (Not including Everett/Everette(I saw [name_u]Everette[/name_u] in a tv show’s credits. It’s mostly feminizations which seem stuffy).
I do like [name_u]Mar[/name_u]- names, like [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Marina[/name_f], Marianne/Marianna and [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] (I was obsessed with [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] once) and the mar- beginning is stronger than the -etta ending (yes I do find certain sounds more overpowering than others).
Oh I looooove it! So cute with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] nn [name_u]Theo[/name_u] as big bro, too!
I love it and it goes perfectly with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]!
I am from [name_f]Italy[/name_f] too and I agree here:
However I disagree with:
To me it feels very grandma bucolic / cottagecore like in a positive way It reminds me of clean sheets with lavender scent and the colour white, orange and purple. I would not use it myself though but I don’t think it is necessarily negative like [name_f]Concetta[/name_f] for example.
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] is gorgeous!
[name_f]Marietta[/name_f] is elegant, romantic, graceful and has this ballerina esque feel to her. I think [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] is beautiful. So unexpected and pretty. I love the nickname [name_f]Etta[/name_f] but I also think [name_u]Marie[/name_u] is pretty. I think [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] sounds very sweet with big brother The0dore.
[name_f]Beautiful[/name_f] and perfect with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. Has that offbeat classic feel. Nicknames are lovely, I also like [name_f]Mariette[/name_f].
It’s nice goes really nicely with Theodore
My only association is Marietta Edgecombe in Harry Potter who is a minor character but has slightly dimmed the beauty of this name for me. I prefer Mariana, Marilla, Marianne, Marisa and Marina. I also really like Arietta.
I like [name_f]Marietta[/name_f]! It is a little bit frilly to my taste but it is still lovely and spunky!
I think [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] is such a beautiful name! I love the nickname [name_f]Etta[/name_f]. I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] fit really nicely together.
