Thoughts on Marin? Pronounced Mare-in
I like it! I don’t have many other thoughts, though — she jus sounds nice, like [name_f]Mavis[/name_f] and Mavens cousin.
I know a [name_f]Maren[/name_f] who pronounces it the same way! Personally I’m partial to that spelling but I love the sound
i love marin! its one of my favorite names, and i just love the meaning as well. its so pretty, and def underused. its also my best friends name, so theres that haha <333
[name_u]Marin[/name_u] is very pretty and sleek
It’s pretty, but be warned, if you meet anyone from the [name_u]Bay[/name_u] Area in [name_u]California[/name_u], they will say it like “Muh-rin”, as that’s how the county is pronounced. [name_f]Maren[/name_f] is a much more intuitive spelling, and it gets my vote!!
Soooo cute! I got a lot of fuss for pronouncing a character’s name like this (pronouncing [name_u]Marin[/name_u] as “MARE-in”) in a play I wrote a few years ago, because near-ish to where I live there’s a county by the name of [name_u]Marin[/name_u] pronounced “muh-RINN.” But I don’t think that seems to be a common pronunciation difficulty! I generally prefer your pronunciation for it as a name. Such a pretty pick!
Basically, this.
[name_f]Maren[/name_f] is lovely. [name_u]Marin[/name_u] is pronounced differently - I live near [name_u]Marin[/name_u].
i like it! i know a marin (spelled & pronounced this way) and i’ve always thought it’s a cute name
[name_u]Marin[/name_u] is a bright and oceanic name, I’m a fan!
i prefer the [name_f]Maren[/name_f] spelling but that one does seem more popular - so I guess that gives [name_u]Marin[/name_u] a slight edge.
I’ve started replying multiple times and never got finished!
This is one of my absolute favorites!! It works with our other names, ends in an -n, and could be an honor name for multiple family members. We ended up ultimately having to veto it due to a close relatives [name_f]Mary[/name_f] name and feeling like the names were too close. So I’m glad to see other love and use for it!
[name_f]My[/name_f] pronunciation would be mare-inn regardless of spelling. I knew nothing of the location in [name_u]California[/name_u] pronounced muh-rinn until asking questions on here. I think that would be up to your opinion and location and familiarity! I like both the [name_f]Maren[/name_f] and [name_u]Marin[/name_u] spellings, but slightly preferred the [name_u]Marin[/name_u] version.
