[name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name] is my favorite author and I’d love a little boy name to honor him. The obvious ones are [name]Mark[/name] and [name]Twain[/name] but I feel like the connection with [name]Mark[/name] isn’t strong enough and [name]Twain[/name] doesn’t really go with our ln that starts with W. Other obvious ones are [name]Tom[/name] and [name]Huckleberry[/name] but [name]Tom[/name] gives me the same problem as [name]Mark[/name] and [name]Huckleberry[/name] is just nms. Any suggestions?
[name]Samuel[/name] Langhorne [name]Clemens[/name] was his real name, you could use one of those?
Then there’s [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Jim[/name] and [name]Finn[/name]…
My DH is a big fan of just “[name]Huck[/name]”.
I love the suggestion of one of his real names (or even possibly his initials? Or [name]Samuel[/name] Langhorne as a double middle?) and [name]Sawyer[/name]! I think of [name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name] with [name]Sawyer[/name] straightaway. [name]Do[/name] you have a favorite book of his, or character? Maybe you could use that? Although I know that doesn’t always corroborate nicely–I love [name]Shakespeare[/name] and [name]Viola[/name] is by far my favorite Shakespearean character (Twelfth [name]Night[/name]), but I like [name]Violet[/name] so much more than [name]Viola[/name]. I have both [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Olivia[/name] on my list to semi-honor the play, at least. Maybe you could do something like that for [name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name]?
Good luck!
[name]Ah[/name]! You guys are great! I really like the idea of [name]Samuel[/name] Langhorne as a double middle. [name]Tom[/name] [name]Sawyer[/name] is my fav book but [name]Sawyer[/name] isn’t my cup of tea. However, that got my wheels turning and I thought of [name]Thatcher[/name]. What do you think of that?
Oh, [name]Thatcher[/name] is great. I wouldn’t necessarily associate it with [name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name] at first but the connect it definitely there.
He’s my favorite author too
My little boy (due [name]July[/name] 3, 2013) is going to be named [name]Jon[/name] [name]Clifford[/name] Langhorne [name]Lee[/name] with the Langhorne in honor of [name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name]
Also, although it’s not a literary reference, [name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name]'s son was named [name]Langdon[/name] (his wife’s maiden name) which I also think is kind of cute. However, I believe the child died fairly young so it may be unlucky

… to be continued
I loooove your boy’s name, glamatomic! And thanks for starting the list! Originally I wanted a name that had a pretty obvious connection to [name]Twain[/name] but I think I’m okay with a more subtle reference. DH likes [name]Thatcher[/name] too (exact words: “It’s not terrible. It would probably depend on what the middle names were.” so I’ll have to get one that I guess!). I’d actually really like this name to replace DH’s favorite [name]Jack[/name], but it will take some convincing. We have to use [name]Joseph[/name] as it honors DH’s cousin who died as a teenager, but then a second middle name is up for grabs.
[name]Thatcher[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Xavier[/name]?
[name]Thatcher[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Patrick[/name]?
If I can’t sell DH on [name]Thatcher[/name] instead of [name]Jack[/name] then I’ll just change that fn to [name]Jack[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] Langhorne.
I adore [name]Finn[/name], Bixby (nn[name]Bix[/name]) [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Huckleberry[/name] (only in the middle!!!), [name]Huck[/name]! [name]Finn[/name] is by far my favourite… He’s a great namesake in Irish mythology and also an obvious nod to [name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name]!! Good luck!! Great Idea!!!
[name]Samuel[/name] is his real first name and I think it would be a nice way to honour him.
I like [name]Samuel[/name], and DH would definitely go for it, but I wanted something with a slightly stronger connection. No one is going to ask why you named your child [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Mark[/name], or [name]Tom[/name]! Haha maybe that’s a little vain
What about [name]Sawyer[/name] or [name]Finn[/name]?
[name]Sawyer[/name] is nms although it’s cool and I overly associate [name]Finn[/name] with the Glee character
[name]How[/name] about [name]Clement[/name] rather than [name]Clemens[/name]?
[name]Clement[/name] [name]Marcus[/name] would be a sneaky way to honor [name]Mark[/name] [name]Twain[/name].
[name]Clement[/name] [name]Finn[/name], [name]Clement[/name] [name]Xavier[/name], [name]Clement[/name] [name]Xavier[/name] [name]Finn[/name]
[name]Samuel[/name] [name]Finn[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
Thanks for all the wonderful suggestion! emmabobemma- I like your sneakiness DH has decided he likes [name]Thatcher[/name] though (yay!) so that is what I’m going to play with now. [name]Thatcher[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] [Something] or [name]Thatcher[/name] [Something] [name]Joseph[/name]. DH tends to like names like [name]Nathan[/name], [name]Jack[/name], [name]Owen[/name], etc. I told him I’d drop my obsession with [name]Xavier[/name] if he let me have [name]Thatcher[/name], so that’s out. Any ideas?
