Marlene?

would [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] be a good name for a 21st century baby? Would it be too old-fashioned?

I did actually know a [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] my age (when I was very little) but it does feel quite dated to me. None the less, if you love it, that doesn’t matter a bit!

It does feel slightly dated, but definitely usable!

I think it would be fine.

My first impression is that it feels dated, but I think it’s still usable.
If you’re looking for similar names, I would suggest [name_f]Marlena[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] and I would love to see it used on a modern baby! It does feels dated especially with mar-leen pronunciation, and less so with mar-leh-na.

I’m a teenager and I know about 10 girls with a variation of that name including having it! It’s very popular among the latin community  so the question seems very ironic and funny, the answer is no not dated for me

Popular variation in my community are:

  • Marilyn
  • Marlen

I think [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] would make a sweet and unexpected choice

The only Marlenes I’ve known of are [name_m]Dietrich[/name_m] and an older woman I worked with. It does seem of an earlier era, but I felt that way about [name_f]Arlene[/name_f] and it seems to have become more popular, so it’s probably fine.

Definitely a throwback. Reminds me of a very tanned woman walking the beach in [name_f]Florida[/name_f]. I know that’s weird.

It’s dated, but I think it’s a beautiful name! I also do like [name_f]Marlena[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Marlene[/name_f], personally I think it’s beautiful and has a very soft, cosy feeling.
Also if you’re a [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] fan [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] McKinnon Is mentioned in the books as a member of the order of the [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and friends with the marauders. Which i think is a nice addition to the name

I, personally, don’t think it’s ready for a comeback.
