Marlow/Marlowe/Marlo

I’m obsessed with the name [name_f]Marlo[/name_f]/[name_u]Marlow[/name_u]/[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] for a girl. When I hear the name, I think it sounds ethereal and would grow nicely into an adult name. However, I’m aware not everyone feels that way about the name and I don’t want to burden my daughter with a name that’s too masculine. I also wonder if the middle name we’ve chosen ([name_f]Rose[/name_f] in honor of a family member) makes it sound too “O” heavy.

What do you all think?

Also, which spelling do you prefere? [name_f]Marlo[/name_f]/[name_u]Marlow[/name_u]/[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]?

[name_f]Marlo[/name_f] makes me think of actress [name_f]Marlo[/name_f] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] looks like it lost its “e”. My favourite is [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] (like writer [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]). I like the name well enough and I don’t find it too masculine for a girl. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] has repetitive “o” sounds but family significance trumps flow every time.

I also like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] best. The combo [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] feels a tad uninventive, but since [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is a family name and not just filler, can’t come down too hard on you for that. I think the name has a sweet, gentle, slightly mysterious feel to it.

I know a teenager named [name_u]Marlow[/name_u]. It fits her well.

I think it’s similarity to [name_f]Margot[/name_f] makes it familiar enough to people without feeling utterly fake. It has a pleasant enough sound, though I dislike [name_u]Marley[/name_u].

I don’t really prefer any of the spellings, any of them could work.

[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] or [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] work for me. I have mostly seen it with an E at the end, so I’d go with that.
I would certainly pair is with a super femme name like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], even if there’s double O sound.
Also there are quite a few [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names:
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]*I think the lee ending balances out the r and o sounds in the first name

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]* [name_f]Love[/name_f] this

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] Rosabel or [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Marlo[/name_f] or [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. [name_f]Marlo[/name_f]/[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is pretty. You do not need other’s to love the name, what matters is that you love the name.

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. It’s lovely.

It always amazes me how a letter of two can change a word.

[name_f]Marlo[/name_f] I think of [name_f]Marlo[/name_f] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], who maybe a young person has never heard of? It is fine with me.

[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] looks incomplete.

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] I love for a male, but cannot imagine on a girl.

Reminds me of [name_f]Harlow/name_f, [name_u]Harper[/name_u], etc. I can see why it’s popular (surname) but is too trendy sounding for me. I love though using [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a family name and that it is very feminine to balance it out.

I love [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Im thinking [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] for my daughter.
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] is beautiful and I love [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as a middle name. With a name such as [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] you need a classic girls only middle name rather tahn something that is unisex

[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_u]Marlow[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]

Not my style, sorry. [name_u]Marlow/name_u is pure surname to me, and [name_f]Marlo[/name_f] looks incomplete and kind of masculine. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is lovely, especially since it has personal meaning, but it’s a very popular middle name these days and I really only like it sounds good with an equally classic first name.

Of the three spellings, I’d go with [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]…personally, though, I’d go with [name_f]Marla[/name_f] or [name_f]Margot[/name_f]…

I like this one. My favorite spelling is [name_u]Marlow[/name_u]. I also like [name_f]Marlo[/name_f]. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] looks more masculine to me.
I’m not sure why [name_f]Marlo[/name_f] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is a bad association, but then I’m young. If you asked me to chose between [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] and [name_u]Reese[/name_u] for a girl I would tell you [name_u]Reese[/name_u], because of the actress [name_u]Reese[/name_u] Witherspoon. [name_u]Reese[/name_u] would be my preferred spelling for a girl and the actress association is not a bad one either.
