Marlowe for my daughter

My husband and I are expecting are fourth child in [name_f]April[/name_f]. We already have [name_u]Reese[/name_u], [name_u]Ivory[/name_u], and Elladora. We have recently found out we are having a girl and really like the name [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. Our only problem is that my sister named her son [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] and we are relatively close with her family. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] are to close??? [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is 6 years older then our baby.

Personally, I think it’s to close. [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is basically hidden in [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and when you pronounce [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] it sounds like [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] with an M. It could also depend how close you are with your sister. If you see her and her child very often it wouldn’t be ideal to have two children with very similar names.

I think its too close sorry, although [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is lovely especially in your sibset. Have you considered [name_u]Marley[/name_u]/[name_f]Marleigh[/name_f]?

For siblings, it’s too close. For cousins, I really don’t think it’s a problem. Not only is there an age difference and gender difference so I feel like there will never be any confusion about who is being spoken of or to, but also cousins have shared first names or had similar first names all the time and the sky didn’t fall.

[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is wonderful with your sibset. You and your husband really this name. Those are compelling reasons to choose a name. Her name rhymes with the name of a boy who is 6 years older than her and she Dwill see sometimes and this is bad because of…reasons (?) is not a compelling reason not to choose it.

I would strongly encourage you to use it! [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is so spunky and lovely, and it works wonderfully with her siblings. I do not think it is a problem for her to have a similar name to her boy cousin [name_u]Arlo[/name_u].

To share my experience… My name is [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], but I go exclusively by [name_f]Katie[/name_f] within my family/extended family. I have a close cousin named K@ylee. (Coded for privacy.) We do not have any issues, even though we regularly have small family gatherings!

Good luck

They definitely rhyme. Whether it’s a “problem” is sort of up to you and your sister. For myself, knowing that my sister has a son named [name_m]Ronan[/name_m], I wouldn’t choose to name my child [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. On the other hand, we have a 7 year old [name_f]Kate[/name_f], and my husband’s brother has a 7 year old [name_f]Katie[/name_f]. Same last name. That same brother has a 13 year old [name_f]Emily[/name_f], and we have a 2 year old [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (long I). If it’s the right name, it’s the right name. Whether it’s a problem is a question only you and your sister and your husbands can answer.

They are cousins and there is a six years old gap between them so if you love the name, use it! If you still have doubts I would suggest [name_u]Marion[/name_u] as a similar name?

Yes, it’s too close
