What are your honest thoughts on the name Marlowe for a girl? Would you use it as a first or keep it in the middle? Does it feel modern or vintage to you?
I think it’s a beautiful name! It’s definitely modern - but it’s one of those rare modern names that I can still imagine as a sister to Josephine and Arthur.
I love the name [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and I think it works well in the first or the middle spot.
I agree with @tallemaja, even though it’s a modern, it’s one of the few that still sits harmoniously next to vintage names like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] or [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].
I think it might be one of those names that some people need a minute to adjust to. It initially struck me as an inoffensive name that wasn’t to my personal taste, but I like it more the longer that I think about it.
Coming from a place of complete ignorance about the actual history of the name, to me it sounds like a name that might have been vintage for boys, but is now used as a more modern girls’ name. It feels a bit bohemian to me, it brings to mind music and creativity.
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is beautiful, literary and charming
I love [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] ! To me it seems both vintage and modern.
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is gorgeous! For me, it’s modern but versatile and it works well with both modern and vintage names.
I really like marlowe and I think it works great on a girl, first or middle!
I’m not a big fan of [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. It feels like the name for a dog instead of a baby. Also not a fan of the E added to the end of it. I like [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] better. It doesn’t feel modern or vintage to me. It feels more trendy really.
i absolutely adore marlowe ! whilst it does feel quite modern, its history (and, especially for me, literary connection) make it feel grounded and rich too. i would use it as either a first or a middle:)
Re-loving [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] lately!
NN [name_m]Lowe[/name_m] or LoLo is cute too.
Absolutely gorgeous name! I love it as a first or a middle. Definitely feels modern.
I love it as a first name! It fits any girl personality and I knew one! We sometimes called her [name_u]Mars[/name_u] but I knew others who called her Marls. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] goes with a lot of last names and middle names! If it were to be a middle name, it would go best after a name ending in the -ee sound like [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] or [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]!
I love [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], but I’m torn between [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] spellings. I personally love the idea of [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] nn [name_u]Marley[/name_u] for a girl.
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] definitely has that vintage-quirky feel, but I think the actually name is pretty modern. The only issue is see with it, is people accenting it incorrectly (marLOWE), but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal
i really love marlowe! i think it’s balanced between modern and vintage very nicely. It doesn’t feel too trendy
I love [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] for a boy. I do not like it for a girl at all.
Absolutely love it - One of my favourites atm!
I absolutely love [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u].
[name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is such a gorgeous name that to me feels truly gender neutral and I like for either sex. [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] is upbeat, spunky and charming. It is a modern name but as @tallemaja said it’s one of those modern names that works as a sister for [name_f]Olive[/name_f] or [name_m]Albert[/name_m]. She’s a gem! I have the combination [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] on my list.
I like it a lot, on both a boy or girl! I know a [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] and a [name_u]Marlo[/name_u] who are both around 20 now. [name_u]Marlo[/name_u] feels a bit more vintage while [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] feels very modern and slightly trendy as a surname name
I love it! I personally prefer it / would be more likely to use it as a middle, but that’s just a style preference and I think it’s also lovely as a first. I do prefer it as a feminine name.
