To me, a leap isn’t forbidden, I think, [name]Tess[/name] and [name]Etta[/name] can come from [name]Esther[/name]. As long as it stays within the realm of connection.
I would love to find a way to really love this name.
I suppose maybe just calling her M? Almost like [name]Emme[/name] or something. I feel like [name]Matty[/name], [name]Marti[/name], or [name]Mae[/name] would be the stretches as nick names for [name]Martha[/name]. Though it would be darling to name her something like [name]Martha[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and use her initials M.E. and call her [name]Emmy[/name]. I had a name with the initials L.C. on my list with the plans of calling her L.C. (like [name]Elsie[/name]) cause I thought it was adorable.
I can’t think of any other nick names though… [name]Mari[/name]? [name]Artie[/name]?
[name]Patsy[/name] and [name]Mattie[/name] are the most common nicknames for [name]Martha[/name] that I’ve seen. I love [name]Martha[/name] as well, but I wouldn’t use a nickname for it. It’s only two syllables (and so are most of the nicknames).
[name]Patty[/name] from [name]Martha[/name] is VERY old-fashioned and would probably confuse the hell out of people nowadays, but it is traditional and you can always tell the people who say it doesn’t make any sense, that it is quite historically valid.
You could call her [name]Art[/name] which is quite cool and cute. [name]Martha[/name] sounds a bit like [name]Arthur[/name] and [name]Art[/name] is a nickname for it.
I like [name]Martha[/name] as-is and would use it like that, though I reckon it would probably get shortened to [name]Marth[/name] unless there was an established nickname in place.
[name]Mimi[/name] could work, or [name]Mar[/name]-[name]Mar[/name], or Ma-ree ([name]Mari[/name]/[name]Maree[/name]/Marey could all work as spellings) or even something completely disconnected like [name]Midge[/name] or [name]Mags[/name] or [name]Mitch[/name]. Or just something combined with her middle.
[name]Hattie[/name]/[name]Hatty[/name] and [name]Midge[/name] are darling! I, too, love [name]Martha[/name], and these new nn options are bringing a bit of spark to such a traditional name.
My name is [name]Martha[/name]. I’ve never used a nn, and no one has ever pinned one on me. The pp had a cute idea of using an E middle name, like [name]Martha[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], with the nn [name]Emmy[/name].
