With all the Avengers hype recently, I’ve been thinking about the name ‘[name]Marvel[/name]’? I probably wouldn’t ever use it because I could not stand the nickname “[name]Marv[/name]”, but what do you guys think? ![]()

[name]Marvel[/name] is really cute! What’s wrong with [name]Marv[/name], though? Okay, a bit of an old man name, but still adorable. I’d use it regardless of potential nicknames because it’s just so cute.
I’m not sure what I hate about [name]Marv[/name], I don’t think it’s the old man think that gets me… just the sound maybe? Or the fact that I picture it in the most irritating accent ever ha. If I could get over [name]Marv[/name] (and the fact that it’s a word name, not usually my thing!) I’d consider it, because I really like the sound of the whole name
[name]Marvel[/name] is intriguing. A bit too super-hero for me, but it would make a fun MN, I would think.
I’m with you on [name]Marv[/name], though, haha. I just saw that [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Marshall[/name] named their son [name]Marvin[/name] on HIMYM, and they call him [name]Marv[/name]… I still cringe every time I think about it. Still a bit too old-school for me.
I suppose [name]Ari[/name] or [name]Arvo[/name] or [name]Arlo[/name] or something like that could work as a nn, as a stretch, though.
[name]Marvel[/name] reminds me of two different fictional characters - the horrible [name]Marvel[/name] Turlock from White Oleander (the book), and the not much better [name]Marvel[/name] from The Hunger Games.
If my S.O. were set on using a comic-related name, I’d probably try to talk him into something like [name]Thornton[/name] with the nickname [name]Thor[/name].
I quite like the idea of [name]Arlo[/name] as a nickname for [name]Marvel[/name], though you’re right about it being a stretch ashthedreamer!
And annie85, [name]Thornton[/name] “[name]Thor[/name]” would be great for a comic book lover, never thought of that before
though it reminds me a little too much of the chocolate company Thorntons! I thought about [name]Marvel[/name] from THG, not a great association, I must say.
Now, how is that a bad thing?
If it were, I suppose it could always be Thorley nn [name]Thor[/name].
I like the name [name]Marvel[/name], probably because of [name]Marvel[/name] from the Hunger Games. But that franchise probably won’t be around forever.
Haha unpopular opinion, but I hate chocolate! ![]()
I have [name]Marvel[/name] as a middle name for a girl.
ETA: I am using it for Marvel comics…
Reminds me too much of [name]Marvel[/name] comics. I dont know a lot about comics but too many film franchises are adapted from [name]Marvel[/name] comics: Spiderman, X-Men, [name]Captain[/name] [name]America[/name]. I know there are more but Im not sure, anyways I cant see it as a real life name since it’s a legendary comic brand.
