He can name his dog [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Burns[/name], not his baby. That baby will grow up to be an adult one day, and she won’t think it’s funny.
I don’t think it’s funny, either. In theory, it is a very pretty name, but [name]Mary[/name] [name]Janes[/name] is a VERY well known shoe brand for little girls, and I can’t help but think of that when I hear the names together.
I agree! Its not so much the shoes that bother me but all the bad drug use references. I just dont understand how he could like it sooo much.

Have you asked him why he doesn’t like this child? He has to realize [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Burns[/name] is not an appropriate name for a child. Take him to the pet store and let him pick out an animal to name [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. Your daughter’s name is not the right place to make drug references.

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is cute aside from the drug associations which I think people would get past anyway (I mean, people still call their kids [name]Charlie[/name]!) but the last name makes it a totally inappropriate name for a little girl!
Please be kidding…[name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name] [name]Burns[/name] is NOT a good idea. If your fiance likes it because it would display his sense of humor, his love of the movie “Half Baked” or even, perhaps (let’s not beat around the bush) his love of the herb, He needs to know that the things that seem positive or amusing to him will, in this case, be negative and hurtful to his daughter. When she gets old enough to figure out that her name is a drug reference, a joke or an ill conceived “gift” she will be humiliated and hurt that her father would want to saddle her with such a burden. [name]Even[/name] before getting to this point, her parents will be judged and she will be pitied. My advice to your fiance is that he think long and hard about how he hopes his daughter’s name will serve her and try to come up with a name that will, through it’s thoughtful selection, express that he loves her and cares about her best interest.
If your fiance actually just loves the name [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (independent of the drug association, perhaps because it IS a cute name or he is a huge Spider [name]Man[/name] fan or wants to honor a real life [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name]) I suggest that he either morn and move on or consider not passing his last name to his children. Perhaps he loves [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name] enough that he would like you to consider keeping your maiden name and giving it to your children. I am guessing that might be a little further than you or your fiance is willing to go for [name]Mary[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. Perhaps, instead, you would like to consider some similar sounding or feeling options:
