Mary Kate

Is [name]Mary[/name] [name]Kate[/name]/[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] too [name]Olsen[/name] twin? I really love the feel of the name and I think it is just adorable. I don’t hear much about [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] and [name]Ashley[/name] anymore so I don’t think that the connection is too strong but I am worried other people will. WDYT usable or not?

I immediately thought of [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] [name]Olsen[/name], but growing up they were my idols, so. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it’s okay to use. I prefer [name]Marie[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] though.

Having grown up during the [name]Olsen[/name] Twin heyday, I immediately associate it with them. However, I don’t think that makes it unusable as long as you don’t have a child named [name]Ashley[/name] or your last name isn’t [name]Olsen[/name] it’s totally fine. I think it’s super cute.

I think of a old classmate I had in middle school who was named [name]Mary[/name] [name]Kate[/name]. But I do agree with pp, its totally usable as long as you don’t have a daughter named [name]Ashley[/name]

I really like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Kate[/name]. I’m expecting a girl in [name]September[/name] and was considering using it. But with my name being [name]Kate[/name], is it too much?

Ha, I actually just heard something about one of the [name]Olsen[/name] twins the other day. It’s actually not too [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] [name]Olsen[/name] for me (I actually think more of this girl my brother went to school with, she was also [name]Mary[/name] [name]Kate[/name]), but it does feel a bit heavy, I can’t really see it on a little girl these days.

I immediately thought…“and ashley” sorry! I think the ties are too strong. [name]How[/name] about

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Anne[/name]
[name]Marielle[/name]
[name]Marianna[/name]

I think it’s sweet and definitely usable.

I immediately thought “and ashley!” but then again I grew up with everything mary kate and ashley.

I have a friend named MaryKathrine, but she hates [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name], she goes by Marykathrine or Mer.

[name]Mary[/name]-[name]Kate[/name] does remind me of the [name]Olson[/name] twins because it was my generation. I don’t think your kid will have that problem since the [name]Olson[/name] twins are dated.

I love it!

I immediately thought of [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] [name_m]Olsen[/name_m] too, but I was pretty much obsessed with them and the books. If you used it you’d probably get more comments from mums/older siblings and cousins who grew up with it than your child’s peers.

BTW, I think she was born [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], without the hyphen, but it got added on later. (I also read their biography three or four times…) If you use it as a first and middle, it shouldn’t be a problem because how many people are going to know her middle name?

I don’t think it’s a problem, even though I did immediately think of the [name_m]Olsen[/name_m] twins. I guess it just matters how much that bothers you.

I don’t really like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] because it reminds me of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u]–too cosmetic-y.

I automatically thought, “and [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]” too.

I’m personally not a big fan of either name or the names together.

[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is a nice double-barrel name. While I do think of [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_m]Olsen[/name_m], I don’t see a problem with that association. She was big when I was growing up and she happens to be the only person I’ve ever “known” with the name. If I met someone else with the name, the [name_m]Olsen[/name_m] association would definitely fade.

This is my two-year-old cousin’s name and it fits her perfectly. I associate it more with her than the [name_m]Olsen[/name_m] twins. Go ahead and use it.
