Where are you getting [name_f]Molly[/name_f] from?

Molly is a traditional nickname for Mary like how Ned is for Edward and Jack is for John, it’s a bit confusing but it can be traced to medieval times. A nickname for Sarah was also Sally. In medieval times 20% of women were named Mary and The only straight laced nickname for Mary I can think of is Mare, so needless to say some weird nicknames were made like Molly, Polly and Malkin. Though Molly is my favorite.

I think it’s alright, but it could be easy to mix them up when filling out forms and stuff.

I think they go really well together—very classic! And I love you nickname ideas. I don’t think they’re too close at all, they’re distinctive well known names.

I accidentally voted yes when I meant no! I was thinking yes I think they can work as sister names. Numerous Catholic families in my circles have both a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or a daughter named [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. To my ear, they are great sister names and I also like [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] as nicknames.

Sisters have been called [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] for centuries. Of course it works.

They go together perfectly as two beautiful, classic names. I love [name_f]Molly[/name_f] and [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] as nicknames as well.

I think they could work together, especially with two separate nicknames.

(Also, I just realised I accidentally voted ‘yes’ instead of ‘no’. So sorry!)

My mom’s name is [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], she has a sister named [name_f]Mary[/name_f], and my own name is [name_f]Molly[/name_f] so I don’t think it’s any problem and all.
