Mary Teagan...Having a hard time

DH and I are having a hard time picking a name for our first child, a little girl.
I want to honor my grandmother who helped raise me. Her name is [name]Mary[/name]. Luckily, both of DH’s grandmothers were also named [name]Mary[/name] (one is a FN and the other as a MN).

My favorite name is [name]Mary[/name] [name]Celeste[/name], but he thinks [name]Celeste[/name] is too French. (We are not French.) I think [name]Celeste[/name] is a lovely sounding name with a nice meaning. And it’s a nice international name.

So from our two lists (below) we came to [name]Mary[/name] [name]Teagan[/name], tentatively. We would call her the full “[name]Mary[/name] [name]Teagan[/name]” and not just [name]Mary[/name]. It’s old and new.

What do you think of [name]Mary[/name] [name]Teagan[/name]?

DH’s List
[name]Anna[/name]
[name]Sarah[/name]
[name]Brigid[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Teagan[/name]
[name]Mariel[/name]
[name]Aubrey[/name]

My List
[name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Charis[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Mabel[/name]

I think [name]Mary[/name] [name]Teagan[/name] is cute! I could see her wanting to go by just one or the other as she gets older. With those two names, she could go either classic or modern!

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Claire[/name] would be another nice combination on your list. It might flow a little better. But if you like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Teagan[/name] best, then go for it!

Go for it! Its really cute, like you said…something old something new! I do like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Claire[/name] as well…

I dislike [name]Teagan[/name] immensely. It seems very trendy and mismatched next to [name]Mary[/name], whose a classic, timeless beauty.

From his list, [name]Mary[/name] [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Mary[/name] [name]Sarah[/name]. From your list, I love [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]! [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] is sweet, sophisticated and classy. Fantastic.

My favourite combination is [name]Mary[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name], as two separate names. Or [name]Mary[/name] [name]Claire[/name]. I really dislike [name]Teagan[/name], it’s not my style at all and I think it cheapens [name]Mary[/name] a little.

I love [name]Celeste[/name] but it doesn’t work with [name]Mary[/name], all people would think of is the ship…

I like [name]Mary[/name], the blog has a whole new post on the name.

What about:
[name]Marisol[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]
[name]Maude[/name]-[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Mauve[/name] [name]Charis[/name]
[name]Agatha[/name] [name]Marine[/name]
[name]Marietta[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Anna[/name]-[name]Marie[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Mary[/name]
[name]Mamie[/name] [name]Teagan[/name]

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Really helpful. We are still thinking it over. Due date’s not til early [name]July[/name]!

I like [name]Mary[/name] [name]Teagan[/name]. It’s a nice blend of classic and modern. I also love [name]Mary[/name] [name]Celeste[/name] (used to have it on my list) and personally, I don’t really mind the whole ghost ship association. In fact, I think it’s kind of cool.

I love [name]Mary[/name] [name]Celeste[/name]! Sounds so lovely, and even tough it sounded familiar to me, i didnt think about the ship til someone mentioned it. Thats the best combination on your list. I dont think it sounds french. Its absolutely gorgeous!
