I am helping someone rename themself (I have been given permission to post this), and I am unfortunately not very good with masculine names, and gender neutral names that shorten to “Bell” seem hard to find.
Their nickname would be “Bell”, but they cannot see themself as a [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]. [name_m]Ashbel[/name_m] is being considered at the moment, but they aren’t sure it’s a perfect fit. Are there any other plausible ways to get to “Bell” from a masculine or gender neutral name ? Thanks in advance for any replies I may receive on their behalf ! ![]()
Some of these are more of a stretch than others but:
[name_u]Campbell[/name_u]
[name_u]Basil[/name_u]
[name_u]Sable[/name_u]
[name_u]Ballard[/name_u]
[name_u]Noble[/name_u]
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
Maybe…
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_u]Campbell[/name_u] / [name_m]Cambell[/name_m]
[name_m]Benvolio[/name_m]
[name_u]Berlin[/name_u]
[name_u]Bentley[/name_u]
[name_m]Bertel[/name_m] / [name_m]Bartel[/name_m]
Brunel
[name_u]Selby[/name_u]
[name_m]Bramwell[/name_m] / [name_m]Branwell[/name_m]
There’s literary [name_m]Bensiabel[/name_m]?
[name_f]Belize[/name_f] / Belice (country and river name)
[name_m]Beldene[/name_m]
[name_u]Abilene[/name_u]
[name_u]Bela[/name_u] (so many different origins and PN’s!)
[name_u]Rebel[/name_u]
[name_u]Baylor[/name_u]
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] (love this one! As a last name it’s spelt Fabel)
I think any variant of [name_u]William[/name_u] could give the nn [name_u]Bell[/name_u]. If culturally appropriate, there are many African names that contain the ‘bel’ sound as well.
Some last names:
Webdell
Belenger (variant of Berenger)
Belmont
I hope your friend finds a name they love!
Also: [name_m]Gabel[/name_m] / [name_u]Gable[/name_u] & [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_u]Campbell[/name_u]
Belanger
Belmont
Fabel / [name_u]Fable[/name_u]
Thank you all for the wonderful and inspired replies ! I shall run these names by them and see if we have found a winner.
I appreciate you all to bits, thank you again. ![]()
I just wanted to add [name_m]Betzalel[/name_m], because I haven’t seen it mentioned yet
