What do you think of [name_u]Mason[/name_u] for a girl?
It’s usable on a girl. It’s masculine indeed but it works, especially with a feminine middle name
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] with a feminine middle works.
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] is so common, (for boys) that I’d use a less common middle.
Spelled as [name_m]Masen[/name_m] is ok. I have no preference between the two endings On or En.
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Livia[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Juliana[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
I’m really not a fan, no matter what spelling, honestly. I’m sorry. It’s such a popular boys’ name… I much prefer [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or [name_f]Macie[/name_f].
If you absolutely want [name_u]Mason[/name_u]/[name_m]Masen[/name_m]…
[name_u]Mason[/name_u]/[name_m]Masen[/name_m] Clairabelle
[name_u]Mason[/name_u]/[name_m]Masen[/name_m] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u]/[name_m]Masen[/name_m] [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u]/[name_m]Masen[/name_m] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f]
I definitely agree that it would go better with an uncommon middle.
Not for me at all.
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] is very common for boys so she’d grow up having to constantly correct people who’re going to think she’s a boy (because they won’t be seeing her middle name)
[name_m]Masen[/name_m] isn’t much better, I prefer [name_u]Mason[/name_u] to it.
I second the suggestion of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] reads pretty masculine to me. I wouldn’t want it for my own name, but I do prefer [name_u]Mason[/name_u] to [name_m]Masen[/name_m].
I think [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is cute, but I would keep this spelling just because it’s the most intuitive.
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Alesandra[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Noelia[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_f]Esmee[/name_f]
It’s a hard no for me.
I’m not a fan of it on a boy or a girl, but I have negative associations with a boy [name_u]Mason[/name_u] I grew up with, so that’s part of it. I much prefer [name_u]Mason[/name_u] or [name_m]Masen[/name_m] to the Maisyn or Maeson spellings people make up (those make me cringe). I think [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is still best in terms of spelling.
I think it wouldn’t be seen as weird to most people, but since [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is still massively more popular for boys than girls, most would assume she was a boy when reading it. It depends on if you think that would bother you or her.
I’m sorry, but no.
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] is a masculine name and I think it should stay that way. However, I am a proponent of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].
I second the suggestion of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. [name_f]Imo[/name_f] if you wouldn’t give a feminine name to your son then it’s hypocritical to give a masculine name to your daughter. However, if you truly love [name_u]Mason[/name_u], I’d give her the option of a strongly feminine middle name, like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], that she can use if she wishes that also gives her the option of many nicknames.
Our nanny is [name_u]Mason[/name_u] and it suits her so well. I like it. (Though my daughter is [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], personally).
I am normally a fan of unisex names, but [name_u]Mason[/name_u] is so popular among boys. I’ve met so, so many of them of all ages (ranging from 20s [maybe older] to just born!)
I was also going to suggest [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]! Similar sounds/look but not as popularly masculine as [name_u]Mason[/name_u]. I also think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is adorable.
If you truly love [name_u]Mason[/name_u], I’d use that spelling. I dont think the e makes it more feminine, and she’d probably have a lot of spelling/pronunciation issues.
I agree with other posters, I’d also probably give her a nice middle name that she could use if she wanted to. (Also think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] could be a nickname for a female [name_u]Mason[/name_u]!)
Does anyone else feel like the [name_m]Law[/name_m] of Trendy Names dictates that the second a trendy boy name hits the top 10, hilariously bad misspellings and malappropriations of that name will start appearing on girls? [name_m]Masen[/name_m], Masyn, Maisynn…
No. I’m definitely not a fan.
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] It’s a little late but I signed up on this forum specifically to answer the [name_u]Mason[/name_u] for a girl question. I live in the US I am 43 with PCOS and trying like hell for a bambino but love looking at names for inspiration in hopes of manifesting motherhood!
My name is Masine and I love it. I’ve never met another one and it was passed down (so to speak) from generations… my Grandfather and his father were [name_u]Mason[/name_u] and my Great grand was [name_f]Macie[/name_f]. People with Creole ancestory often feminize last names or male names and it often has a sorta ‘bastardized [name_m]French[/name_m]’ sound (Ha Ha …think Beyoncé lol)
My family pronounces Masine ([name_f]MAY[/name_f]-seen) and I honestly love my name, love it’s connection to [name_u]Mason[/name_u] and love how feminine it sounds!
I’m sure the OP picked the perfect name for her baby and I hope this helps someone in the future.
I don’t dislike it based on sound, but it’s common enough for boys that I think it would cause some confusion. Also, it’s been popular long enough for boys that it’s beginning to feel overused and that doesn’t help my perception of it for either gender.
I’m not a fan of [name_u]Mason[/name_u] for a girl because of the “son” ending. It’s also not my style. However, I think it is as usable as [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m].
In the movie “Kong: Skull Island”, [name_f]Brie[/name_f] [name_m]Larson[/name_m]'s character is named [name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_m]Weaver[/name_m].
I love it. I have to admit I’m a fan of boys names on girls so I’m probably a bit biased. Yes, if people heard the name they’d think boy, but very rarely would they be hearing it and not seeing her attached to it. I say go for it! [name_u]Austen[/name_u] for a girl is another one of my favorites
