Would you use a middle name that started with the same letter as your surname? E.g. your child’s initials would be J.B.B or D.W.W similar.
Personally, I don’t want to use matching letters for the first + last name, but I’m not sure how I feel about repeating middle + last name initials and was just wondering what other berries thought.
I think repeating initials is fine, as long as they don’t spell something that is untastefull. I tend to be more put off by repeated sounds (e.g. [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] - like why would you do that?) than repeated initials.
I actually did do that without even thinking about it at the time. One of my sons has DLL as his initials. But he’s not alone as his grandfather and uncle have the same initials. I may consider the first and middle being the same as well but wouldn’t go so far as having all three initials the same.
I have repeating initials (CMM), and it’s never bothered me. It’s definitely better than the initials spelling something unfortunate. This is one of those cases where “if you love it, go for it” definitely applies.
(Funny enough, when I chose a confirmation name, I got to pick a one with a C to make my initials (unofficially) CMCM!)
