I’m just going to preface my opinion with this: the combo is absolutely gorgeous and you simply can’t go wrong, regardless of spelling.

However, in comparison to [name_f]Maude[/name_f], the [name_f]Maud[/name_f] spelling seems far more plain and somewhat dated in comparison to the prettier and more well-rounded [name_f]Maude[/name_f]. With [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], I see where you’re coming from with the double E, but I think it makes the name look quite a lot prettier and more tied together with the common aspect of the E repeated throughout the names in [name_f]Maude[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. I think it’s a bit of an exception from the typical rule of “don’t repeat your letters”.

Either way, though, I really don’t think you can go wrong! The combo sounds lovely and it truly is just a matter of personal preference.

You’re right about [name_f]Maude[/name_f] feeling more well rounded and perhaps a bit more up-to-date. I just wonder if the extra E is entirely necessary - I feel as if the [name_f]Maud[/name_f] spelling captures the short and sweet sound of the name the best. Ugh I’m still so torn!

Thanks for the input and kind words!

I say [name_f]Maude[/name_f], but I don’t see much difference between the two spellings in terms of how they feel. [name_f]Maud[/name_f] reminds me a bit of “maudlin” but I’m surprisingly OK with that (actually, it wouldn’t be a surprise, if you knew me)

I prefer [name_f]Maud[/name_f] in the first name spot and [name_f]Maude[/name_f] in the middle spot. I’m weird like that! I have [name_f]Maud[/name_f] [name_f]Estella[/name_f] / [name_f]Estella[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f] on my list

I prefer [name_f]Maude[/name_f], definitely. I feel as though [name_f]Maud[/name_f] looks incomplete, and for some reason, [name_f]Maud[/name_f] feels very no-nonsense and corsets to me, where as [name_f]Maude[/name_f] looks more playful (I have no idea why though).

I think [name_f]Maude[/name_f] is better because the E gives it a needed delicacy.

Thanks everyone. I’m still thinking it over - I prefer [name_f]Maude[/name_f] in theory but when I think of a future daughter her name would be spelt [name_f]Maud[/name_f], it’s vivid in my head for some reason!

I see [name_f]Maud[/name_f] as lithesome, chic, streamlined, and elegant - I could go on. [name_f]Maude[/name_f] conjures more of a… dowdy image? I’m not sure why, and it’s probably just association. But [name_f]Maude[/name_f] simply doesn’t attract me. It’s not as “magnetic” as [name_f]Maud[/name_f], so to speak.
