[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there!
I flip flop on my husbands #1, [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] every week. It literally is just the way I say it that makes it seem difficult… maybe I don’t annunciate it very well lol! [name_f]Love[/name_f] the look of it just the sound out of just my mouth lol can not be my favorite….open to [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] but it’s not 100% our style… I think it’s cute but I sometimes think it may come off a little too over the top for us. Not sure….
Also open to a shorter middle so I use [name_m]Max[/name_m], “something” together and the ending won’t seem so harsh to me. [name_m]Wilde[/name_m] is another honor name, curious about [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m], even with the Where the wild things are reference lol.
** (1) what other short or easy to say middles would you recommend with [name_m]Max[/name_m] to help me with the way it sounds at the end? [name_m]Just[/name_m] to give me more options… I get I’m bizarre for this
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] we also like maybe a NN like JT with Jack/ Jackson’s being pretty popular.
Our mutual #2 is [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] Dwaine…. [name_f]Honor[/name_f] names and we would prob use NN [name_m]Drew[/name_m].
NEW Q- I saw some lovely person recommend [name_m]Mack[/name_m] for us as a NN for [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] or any M name.
(2) What are your thoughts on [name_m]Mack[/name_m]?
(3) [name_m]Mack[/name_m] potentially a stand alone name or no?
(4) Other full names that would give you [name_m]Mack[/name_m] as a NN?
We are 27 weeks… team green… girl favs are:
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
Lots of thoughts here!! For one, I definitely don’t see [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] as over the top, it feels friendly and approachable just like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Mack[/name_m] do to me! Max/Maxwell is my favourite of the 3 names. It feels fresh, not overly popular, and international !!
Maybe you could do something like [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Eliott[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Franklin[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Nolan[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Robin[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Sullivan[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]?
That said, although I prefer [name_m]Max[/name_m], I do also like [name_m]Mack[/name_m]! It feels cool and laid-back and can definitely work on its own. It could be short for [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_m]Maxfield[/name_m], [name_m]Maxim[/name_m], [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], [name_m]Macaulay[/name_m], [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] maybe?
Thoughts on [name_m]Mack[/name_m] → I quite like [name_m]Mack[/name_m]. It’s short and punchy with an every-man sort of feel, much like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Max[/name_m].
[name_m]Mack[/name_m] as a standalone → Absolutely works! I actually prefer it as a standalone if the full name option is [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], as I think [name_m]Max[/name_m] is the much more intuitive nn option.
Other full names for [name_m]Mack[/name_m] → [name_m]Macsen[/name_m], [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], [name_m]Malachy[/name_m], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f], [name_m]Madoc[/name_m], [name_m]Maddox[/name_m], [name_m]Maverick[/name_m]
And I know you didn’t ask, but I don’t find [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] over the top at all! It feels very in keeping with the other names on your list and your style in general.
1) Hmm… maybe [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Rowan[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m], [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Owen[/name_m], or [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Elliot[/name_m] could work? (I love [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] for y’all by the way!)
2) I like [name_m]Mack[/name_m] a lot, he’s spunky, and a fresher twist on the familiar [name_m]Jack[/name_m] or [name_m]Max[/name_m].
3) I think [name_m]Mack[/name_m] could definitely be a standalone!
4) [name_m]Mack[/name_m] as a nickname could be for… maybe [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f], McKinley, etc. (any Mc- name), [name_m]Maddox[/name_m], [name_m]Marcus[/name_m], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m], or [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]
I think the hard thing with [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is that [name_m]Max[/name_m] is so short and the emphasis of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is on the first syllable. Two short emphasized syllables sound awkward to my ear? Something like [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] or [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] or [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] sound nicer to my hears. I can’t really think of “short” middles that have an emphasis on the second syllable though - there are lots for girls (Noelle, [name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_f]Renee[/name_f], [name_f]Camille[/name_f], etc.) but I think it’s harder for boys (unless you go the unisex [name_f]French[/name_f] route like [name_m]Noel[/name_m] or [name_m]Rene[/name_m] or Camille).
I do like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Mac[/name_m] a lot, and I think [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is timeless and handsome. I don’t love [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] in general (prefer [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] myself), but I do like [name_m]Mac[/name_m] as an alternate to [name_m]Max[/name_m]. I also like [name_m]Mac[/name_m] as a nn for [name_m]Malachi[/name_m] and [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f] and McAllister (sp). I do prefer [name_m]Mac[/name_m] to [name_m]Mack[/name_m], personally, but I am a big [name_m]Mac[/name_m] fan in general. I think it could standalone but I like it best as a nn for [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f], or [name_m]Macallister[/name_m] (or however you spell it lol).
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] are very sweet!
Thank you for all these suggestions! I do agree about [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and the contrast with name length there… I think maybe a 2 syllable middle may be better. And yes [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is timeless whenever I’m like hmm a little bland I quickly snap back to it’s timeless and we could do JT as a NN too…
[name_m]Mack[/name_m] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]! We are definitely playing around with Mack… we are US… are you getting a lot of “is the name Max?” When people first meet you etc? It’s really not a big deal… just curious
You have lovely choices to decide on. I love [name_m]Drew[/name_m] and [name_m]Max[/name_m]. [name_m]Mack[/name_m] is also nice but my favourites would be [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] Maxwell/Andrew [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] or Maxwell/Max [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
Maybe [name_m]Mannix[/name_m], or is there a a [name_m]Mac[/name_m] beginning name like MacKinlay, in your family’s history as you could get [name_m]Max[/name_m] from there.
I love the idea as [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] for a middle…. [name_m]Or[/name_m] [name_m]Max[/name_m] as a first. Never thought of [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] for a middle though! [name_m]Handsome[/name_m]
Not really? I know a [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f] and he’s always been just [name_m]Mac[/name_m], etc. I think if people knew the full name was [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], then maybe they would be confused on if it’s [name_m]Max[/name_m] or just [name_m]Mac[/name_m] but [name_m]Mac[/name_m] is pretty familiar too.
I love [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] but I have to say [name_m]Max[/name_m] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m] is very cool concerning [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] I think he’s handsome, friendly and definitely not over the top. I think [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] is just as approachable as [name_m]Jack[/name_m] & [name_m]Mack[/name_m].
You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is lovely such a timeless classic name that feels down to earth and warm. I also like JT as a fun nickname with a cowboy flair.
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] is handsome with a midcentury intelligent feel and I think [name_m]Drew[/name_m] is cute. However not my favourite on your list.
I love [name_m]Mack[/name_m] I think he’s cool and has an edgy yet relaxed vibe. I think just [name_m]Mack[/name_m] is fun! Massively grown on me. For me [name_m]Mack[/name_m] has similar feels to the likes of [name_m]Nash[/name_m]. I absolutely love [name_m]Cormac[/name_m]! I think [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] has similar energy to your favourites you may also like [name_f]Mackenzie[/name_f], [name_m]Maxfield[/name_m], [name_m]Macaulay[/name_m], Malachi/Malachy, [name_m]Maddox[/name_m] + [name_m]Maverick[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite would be [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] for you guys.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to say I love N0ra Estell3 such a pretty name!
