Maxine

Hey Berries!

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] and its boyish nickname [name_u]Max[/name_u]. I don’t want a girly girl name and I feel like [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is exactly what I would like for my hypothetical daughter. It’s chic, strong and feminine.
I’m a little bit sad because my boyfriend hates it. He thinks it’s a terrible name because it’s out dated (for him [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is a name for a 45-year-old woman).

What do you think about this name? Is it really out dated or a terrible name? Is it wearable in 2014?

Thank you!

I love [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]! Spunky, sassy, and feminine. Ready for a comeback.

Spunk and sass is precisely how I’d describe her, too.

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is most definitely a vintage favorite of mine.

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is such a fun name! I know a little [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] who is a friend’s daughter. It’s hard to imagine on a child at first, but it grew on me. She will appreciate having serious, womanly name when she grows up, I think, and it seems so cool and surprising on a little girl.

I can see both sides. I feel your description but understand his opinion too.

Nothing wrong with [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]! Great legitimate way of having the ‘[name_u]Max[/name_u]’ nickname for a girl

I have adored Maxine for a couple of years now, I think it’s ready for a comeback and will. It’s on the cutting edge I think b/c people who like Max variants for boys may become interested in it for girls. I don’t think of Maxine as a 45 yr old, which would be Gen X today. I knew a Maxine and she was in her 70s. I think it has a vintage quality. So all around I am pro Maxine. Another name that I love that is similar to Maxine is Louise.

It is so retro that it is cool! It wouldn’t really be used on any 45 year olds though. You must be young! It is a grandma name, but those names are making a comeback. I bet [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] will break the top 1000 soon.

There is a character named [name_u]Max[/name_u] on tv. [name_f]Kat[/name_f] Dennings plays [name_u]Max[/name_u] on 2 Broke Girls.

Normally I don’t care for boys names on girls, but it is sassy.

I like [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] a lot!

Good luck!

Yeah, I can absolutely see [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] making a comeback; it feels fresh to me in the same vein as [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], etc (only with more attitude than those names!) A fun, interesting name that totally deserves more use.

Thanks!

Other suggestions please?

[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] is a great name and definitely wearable. Easy to pronounce, spunk, vintage (and not dated). As above: ready for a come back!
