How do we feel about “month names” not born in the same named month? I love the name [name_f]May[/name_f] but is it weird to name a fall/winter baby [name_f]May[/name_f]?
I previously preferred the [name_f]Mae[/name_f] spelling for this reason but I’d be using it as an honor name for Mary… so I’m back to the [name_f]May[/name_f] spelling.
Names like [name_f]April[/name_f] & [name_f]May[/name_f] are well-established as names. I known Mays who aren’t born in [name_f]May[/name_f]. It’s perfectly fine. I honestly prefer [name_f]May[/name_f] to [name_f]Mae[/name_f], but either of the two are okay to use as an honour name for [name_f]Mary[/name_f].
Personally, I think it is perfectly okay! Obviously everyone has their own opinion or preference, but I’d actually prefer a [name_f]May[/name_f] born in [name_u]October[/name_u] over a [name_f]May[/name_f] born in [name_f]May[/name_f] it seems too cheesy in my opinion, but again it is all up to preference and mean no offense to anyone who has or likes a month name that was born in that month.
I think it’s so so so okay! I have a cousin [name_u]August[/name_u] born in [name_u]January[/name_u], and as far as I know, no one’s ever batted an eye— at least not in our family! [name_f]May[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name. I love it as a hormone for [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I think it works any time of the year.
I think it’s fine!! Especially for months that are so well established as names (like [name_f]May[/name_f] and June) if I were to meet a [name_f]May[/name_f] I don’t think I would even consider what month the child was born in
[name_f]May[/name_f] is a lovely name btw :))
Totally fine! With unusual month names like [name_u]January[/name_u] or [name_u]November[/name_u] I might assume there was some kind of connection to the month — date of birth, parents’ wedding anniversary, honeymoon date, etc.
With more established month names like [name_f]April[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u] it wouldn’t even cross my mind. [name_f]May[/name_f] is name before month to me.
it’s completely fine. if anything, i think naming a kid after the month they’re born in would be weirder. my middle name is August but i was born in March and no one has ever commented on it
[name_f]My[/name_f] cousin who’s name is [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] was born in [name_u]December[/name_u], and I think it is beautiful! Maybe change the spelling to [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_u]Mai[/name_u] to stop the confusion!

Nope it’s not weird at all. I’ve known so many April’s not born in [name_f]April[/name_f], May’s not born in [name_f]May[/name_f], Summer’s not born in [name_f]Summer[/name_f], Autumn’s not born in [name_f]Autumn[/name_f], etc. It’s not weird!
