[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I were each related to the founders of our county and remained farmers and landowners here. A lot of the land is on a major river or large creeks. Therefore, names related to the land became important to us as we moved toward naming children. We had a lot of luck with old [name_f]English[/name_f] surnames during the search. It’s a fun way to look.
Our son in late 20s is Grantson (son of a landowner). Our daughter is Wellsley (land of the water, land where the water never runs out). I found both of their names in a very old [name_f]English[/name_f] dictionary of names at a used bookstore.
Names from the book we considered the first time:
[name_m]Calder[/name_m]- rough waters or stream
Fields/Fielder- dweller in the open country
[name_m]Lander[/name_m]- of the land
Wyeth- land of willows
[name_m]Granger[/name_m]- grain dealer
Second time, boy list:
Decided on Gainer, family name passed down for 6 generations- means farmer, cultivator
Considered:
[name_m]Sumner[/name_m]- my relative/founder was also the summoner
I also like
[name_m]Ames[/name_m]- friend
Kellar- little companion
[name_m]Bence[/name_m]- victor
[name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m], [name_m]Hemingway[/name_m], [name_m]Taos[/name_m], [name_m]Nevis[/name_m], [name_m]Bimini[/name_m], [name_m]Fleming[/name_m], [name_f]Delphi[/name_f], [name_m]Zealand[/name_m], [name_m]Denali[/name_m] because we like to read and travel.
