[name_m]Hi[/name_m] guys. I’m in desperate need of assistance. [name_f]My[/name_f] story revolves around families with different powers, and one of them is able to control the physical body (think Heartrenders from the Grishaverse, if you’ve read any of that). I prefer to theme the names around the abilities of the family, but for this particular powerset, it’s pretty hard to find anything suitable.
I reached out for this on Reddit, but they gave me medication and disease names, which isn’t exactly what I’m looking for. It’s fine if the names are weird or even annoying— they’re celebrities, and name their children like some of our own celebrities— but I’m really not looking to name them Ibuprofen or Hemmorhage, lmao.
I’d prefer names that connect to anatomy somehow, like if it means blood or eyes or something (Iris, for example) or just names with healer or medicine or SOMETHING in the meaning. Oh! And one more thing. Pleaseee no names that are just an unrelated name that a famous doctor happens to have, like [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] for [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] Fauci. If it’s a saint’s name or ancient doctors’s name, though, feel free.
Sorry for being so picky! Any help is REALLY appreciated. I know these are a whole lot of rules, though, so feel free to bend them as you see fit.
Okay, let’s see…
[name_f]Pejuta[/name_f] – means “medicine”
[name_m]Asa[/name_m] – means “healer”
[name_m]Galen[/name_m] or [name_f]Galina[/name_f] – means “healer”
[name_m]Iakona[/name_m] – means “healer”
[name_f]Cornelia[/name_f] – from cornea of the eye??
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] – means “heart”
Pinna – part of the outer ear
[name_f]Panacea[/name_f] – means “cure for all ills”
[name_f]Remedy[/name_f]
Patella – kneecap bone
Maxilla – a bone
Ulna – a bone
[name_m]Brisbane[/name_m] – means “break bone”
[name_f]Althea[/name_f] – means “with healing power”
[name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] – means “healthy”
[name_f]Peony[/name_f] – means “healing”
[name_m]Kenzo[/name_m] – means “strong & healthy”
[name_m]Rafael[/name_m] – means “God has healed”
[name_f]Salvia[/name_f] – means “whole/healthy” – connected to the word salve
[name_m]Valerian[/name_m] – means “strength/health” – connected to valerian root
[name_m]Eztli[/name_m] – means “blood”
[name_f]Aiyana[/name_f] – means “large eyes”
[name_m]Brady[/name_m] – means “one with broad eyes”
[name_m]Osiris[/name_m] – means “with strong eyesight”
[name_m]Sullivan[/name_m] – means “with dark eyes”
[name_m]Elixir[/name_m] – means “medicinal substance, philosopher’s stone”
[name_m]Morgan[/name_m] – connected to the word organ??
[name_m]Angad[/name_m] – means “of my own body”
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped! Best of luck!

Asclepius & Hippocrates came to mind instantly when you said “ancient doctors’ names”! Obviously very out there choices but not for celebrity names, especially if you could think of some wearable nicknames for them (e.g. [name_m]Ash[/name_m] or [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] for Asclepius, [name_m]Pip[/name_m] for Hippocrates)
Some more subtle ones: [name_f]Emma[/name_f] (sounds the same as the Greek word for “blood”, and Greek is used a lot in medicine), [name_f]Matia[/name_f] (also the same as the Greek word for “eyes”). [name_m]Valentin[/name_m], [name_m]Valentine[/name_m] & [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] mean “health(y)”, [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] means “resurrection”, [name_m]Asa[/name_m], [name_m]Jason[/name_m] / Iason & [name_f]Althea[/name_f] all mean “healer”, [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] was a god of healing in ancient Greek myth (and variants of his name like [name_f]Apolline[/name_f] and Apoliena could work too) and so were Akeso, [name_f]Iaso[/name_f] & Hygeia / Hygieia. [name_f]Achelois[/name_f] means “she who washes away pain”. Kardia / Kardya isn’t a name but it’s the Greek word for “heart” and I think it definitely sounds name-like and like something a celebrity couple may choose. Corpus (definition: “the main part or body of a bodily structure or organ”) also sounds pretty name-like, could be nicknamed [name_m]Corey[/name_m] or [name_f]Coco[/name_f]. Remedio, Remei & Osane (all feminine names) mean “remedy”. Euaemon / Euaimon / Evaimon means well-blooded. [name_m]Jamin[/name_m] & [name_m]Teman[/name_m] both mean “right hand” & [name_m]Chiron[/name_m] means “hand” or, loosely, “skilled with his hands”

These are all so good! Thank you for including nicknames, it really helps me conceptualize these as characters. [name_f]Iaso[/name_f] is actually the name of one of the mcs from this family, but Akeso fits so well as a sister or even mom for her, which is what I was looking for. I love all the greek words, too, they’re perfect. Thank you so much!!

Oh, I love seeing [name_f]Iaso[/name_f] being used! Canonically in Greek myth Akeso & [name_f]Iaso[/name_f] were sisters – not sure if that bothers you or if you think it’s a cool connection that your sisters or mum & daughter duo would also share that familial connection, but just letting you know!

OHO! I just so-happen to be taking medical classes for this semester of my schooling, so this request couldn’t be better timed! Unfortunately, I think the two previous posters were quicker to the punch than I was with giving suggestions, but I’ll try anyway:
- [name_m]Asa[/name_m] (unisex), meaning “healer” in Hebrew.
- [name_f]Althea[/name_f] (female), meaning “with healing power” in Greek. Yes, a Greek mythological figure, but like [name_f]Athena[/name_f], I think it’s got enough of a human history of usage that it could stand independently of its origin.
- [name_m]Cordian[/name_m] (male), meaning “of the heart” in Latin. Sounds anatomical but is a legitimate name.
- [name_m]Carmine[/name_m] (unisex), meaning “vivid red” in Italian. Like blood?
- [name_m]Damian[/name_m] (male), meaning “to tame” or “subdue” in Greek. Perhaps subdue malignant afflictions?
- [name_m]Euston[/name_m] (male), meaning “heart” in [name_m]Irish[/name_m].
