Mee-luh 😍

I think it’s so pretty, but the spelling is so difficult. [name_f]Mila[/name_f] is usuall pronnounced ‘my-luh’ and Meela just doesn’t look right to me. Thoughts?

I’ve heard [name_f]Mila[/name_f] pronounced this way lots of times! [name_f]Mila[/name_f] Kunis, to give a famous example.

I think if you don’t like the look of Meela, this is one of those times when you need to decide if using the name you love in the spelling you love is worth correcting pronunciation, or if it would bother you enough that a totally different name is the best solution for you.

For what it’s worth, my daughter is named [name_f]Mila[/name_f], and we pronounce it Mee-luh like Kunis. I think there’s been one instance of us getting [name_f]Myla[/name_f] instead but other than that, no other times.

I’ve only ever heard [name_f]Mila[/name_f] pronounced “mee-luh”, whereas I’d expect [name_f]Myla[/name_f] to be pronounced “my-luh.” As long as you don’t mind correcting people occasionally, I don’t think the [name_f]Mila[/name_f] spelling would be too much hassle to get to the pronunciation you’re going for!

I’ve never heard anyone pronounce [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as my-luh, always me-luh! I think it’s a beautiful name.

i have always pronounced [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as mee-lah, i would assume the my-lah pronunciation would be spelled [name_f]Myla[/name_f].

it depends how bothered you would be about the occasional mispronunciation i guess. I think [name_f]Mila[/name_f] is a more concise spelling.

I’ve only ever known [name_f]Mila[/name_f] to be pronounced mee-la. I think most people would pronounce it correctly and it’s easy enough to correct.

All the [name_m]Milas[/name_m] I’ve known have been Mee-luh and that’s how I’d pronounce it.

[name_f]Mila[/name_f] looks best, and it’s closeness to names like [name_u]Mina[/name_u], [name_f]Mira[/name_f] and [name_f]Camila[/name_f] makes the pronunciation make sense to me

I’ve never heard [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as anything other than mee-la, and I think it’s hands down the best spelling!

I see [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as meela, there are enough IRL examples that most people should get it right, and that’s a more correct spelling of the name.

I would assume [name_f]Mila[/name_f] was pronounced Mee-luh.

I’ve only heard of [name_f]Mila[/name_f] being said as Meela!

I would pronounce [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as Mee-luh. I love it. I know a little girl name [name_f]Camila[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Mila[/name_f]. But I think [name_f]Mila[/name_f] is a great stand alone name.

I’ve always pronounced [name_f]Mila[/name_f] as Mee-luh but apparently in my area lots of people think it is pronounced my-luh unfortunately.

Before she got fired there was a girl at my work that is naming her unborn daughter [name_f]Mila[/name_f] and got kind of offended when people mispronounced it as My-luh instead of Mee-luh.

So as long as you are okay with occasionally correcting others pronunciation of the name then I say go for it. Hell I would still just go for it in general if you love the name and spell it however you like.

I’ve honestly only ever known [name_f]Mila[/name_f] to be mee-la, my-la is Myla(h) typically where I am  it’s a lovely name!

It’s the more common pronunciation

I’ve only ever heard [name_f]Mila[/name_f] pronounced as Mee-luh. I’d go with that traditional and beautiful spelling!

Yep I’d agree with the others. MEE-luh is the more common pronunciation as far as I know

I know a 1 year old named [name_f]Mila[/name_f] and they pronounce it mee-luh

I’ve actually never heard of [name_f]Mila[/name_f] being pronounced MY-la. Is that a regional pronunciation or something? [name_f]Mila[/name_f] Kunis is probably the most famous [name_f]Mila[/name_f] around, and she says MEE-la. [name_f]Milla[/name_f] Jovovich has a spelling variation, and she also says MEE-la.
