Hi berries! I’ve been liking Megan a lot recently as an honor name for my biological grandmother, Margaret “Peggy”, and what are your thoughts on the name? And would it be odd or outdated to name a future child this? And any mn suggestions would be appreciated! TIA!
I really like [name_f]Megan[/name_f] BUT I do feel it’s a little outdated. Not unusable though and it doesn’t feel weird to me I just wouldn’t use it. And I would be a bit worried about the ‘shut up Meg’ connection.
I love the name [name_f]Megan[/name_f]! It was a strong contender when I was pregnant with my daughter.
For middle name suggestions:
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Diane[/name_f] / [name_f]Diana[/name_f]

[name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
@ash287 is that from Family [name_m]Guy[/name_m]? Sorry, I just never really watch it bc it looks… dumb? Idk, if that’s the right word. But I’ll keep that in mind, thank you!
@emily.eveline.barns I absolutely love; [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Diane[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u]. Thank you!
I like [name_f]Megan[/name_f] and I think that it’s totally usable, but the association to celebrities like [name_f]Meghan[/name_f] Markle and [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_u]Fox[/name_u] would be a little bit too strong for me, unfortunately (although I have nothing against them. I just can’t get their picture out of my head when I read the name)
What do you think about the name [name_f]Margot[/name_f] to honor [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]?
I definitely think [name_f]Megan[/name_f] is usable! It doesn’t sound dated to me at all. (And there are a variety of spellings, too: [name_f]Meghan[/name_f], [name_f]Meagan[/name_f], Meaghan.)
Other name options to honour [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]: [name_f]Meg[/name_f], [name_f]Meggy[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Margaux[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Mairead[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Margarita[/name_f], [name_f]Rita[/name_f], [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] (trad. nickname for Margaret), or [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] (from the meaning).
Re middles, I like [name_f]Megan[/name_f] with either a 1-syllable or a 3-syllable:
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Amity[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] is a pretty warm yet rugged name! I’ve met one little [name_f]Megan[/name_f] when working with kids
I love the name [name_f]Megan[/name_f]! [name_f]My[/name_f] personal hesitation is the variety of spellings but it is still such a perfect name. And I love the sentiment behind it ! I’m also a big fan of [name_f]Meg[/name_f] ( [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women was one of my favourite books)
[name_f]Megan[/name_f] is past its prime in terms of popularity, but as a derivative of classic [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] I think it is somewhat timeless. It’s a sweet and warm name, and I love nickname [name_f]Meg[/name_f]. I think it has a similar feeling to [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], but would be less ubiquitous with this generation.
Megan is my name, and I honestly love it more each day! I think it is so underrated and just a soft and lovely name! Coincidentally, my great grandmother was named Margaret!

@may.rose lol that’s too funny, what are the odds of that? From your suggestions, I adore; [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Cosette[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Elsinore[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Wisteria[/name_f], [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u], thank you!
Personally, I think I would go with the classic, [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], and use the nickname [name_f]Meg[/name_f]. For a middle name I like Marg@ret [name_f]Claire[/name_f].
I really like [name_f]Megan[/name_f]! It’s a little dated but that doesn’t bother me personally, and certainly doesn’t make it unusable. I think it’s sweet and fun, and I love [name_f]Meg[/name_f] and [name_f]Meggie[/name_f] as nicknames. Plus the connection to your grandmother makes it even more special for you.
I think it’s absolutely usable, but it does feel a bit dated to me, too. I much prefer [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], nn [name_f]Meg[/name_f] myself! [name_u]Or[/name_u] even just [name_f]Meg[/name_f]!
Some other honors for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] I really like are [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], and [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. If those appeal to you, lovely, and if not, I definitely don’t think [name_f]Megan[/name_f] is a bad choice!
I really like [name_f]Megan[/name_f] she feels homespun and wholesome such a upbeat spunky name. Personally I feel like [name_f]Megan[/name_f] has a classic vibe I don’t think the name is dated or can date as a result of her being a classic. [name_f]Megan[/name_f] is very usable she’s lovely.

[name_f]Megan[/name_f] was pretty popular in my era. I do prefer this spelling over the one with the H.
It is from Family [name_m]Guy[/name_m], I’ve never really seen it either but it’s a famous gif and I’m just wondering how well known it still is because a few girls/women called [name_f]Megan[/name_f] have told me it bothers them.
