Megija?

My grandmother’s neighbour’s little girl is called Megija, they’re from Latvia, and from the first time I heard it I fell completely in love with it! I’ve always loved the nickname Meg, but not a massive fan of Megan. Wanted some opinions on middle names, or potential sibling names as well? Just wanted to share because I love it and I’ve never heard it anywhere else!

Edit: Pronounced Meg-ee-uh, sorry!

How do you pronounce it?

I think it’s very pretty! I do worry the pronunciation will cause some confusion (I’m personally not sure how to pronounce it) but I love the look.

I personally think I would give siblings other names used in Latvia that are internationally accessible, like…
[name_f]Marta[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Katrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Alisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Milana[/name_f]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_u]Nikita[/name_u]
[name_f]Karolina[/name_f]
Matiss
[name_u]Leo[/name_u]
[name_f]Adelina[/name_f]
[name_m]Bruno[/name_m]

I think it’s pretty. I don’t find it that hard to pronounce but there is a sizable Latvian and Lithuanian community in my area so I have encountered names like [name_f]Marija[/name_f] and [name_f]Sofija[/name_f] before. I do think it would be pronounced wrong a lot outside of that culture though - lots of people will assume the J is pronounced like in [name_f]English[/name_f].

If you’re not Latvian I would suggest changing the spelling to Megiya because that might make it easier for [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers to get right.

Megija is pretty but strong - I quite like it! Is it pronounced Meg-ee-uh?

For middles, I’d consider:

Megija [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
Megija [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
Megija [name_f]Lucette[/name_f]
Megija [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
Megija [name_f]Liv[/name_f]
Megija [name_u]Juno[/name_u]
Megija [name_f]Sabine[/name_f]
Megija [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
Megija [name_f]Neve[/name_f]

Some siblings:

[name_f]Daina[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilona[/name_f] ‘Lolo’ or ‘Lola’
[name_f]Ines[/name_f] ‘Izzy’
[name_f]Nadija[/name_f]
[name_f]Tamara[/name_f]
[name_f]Zuzanna[/name_f] ‘Annie’
[name_f]Irina[/name_f]
[name_f]Polina[/name_f] ‘Polly’
[name_f]Calista[/name_f] ‘Callie’
[name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] ‘Ada’ ‘Heidi’
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementina[/name_f]

[name_m]Bruno[/name_m]
[name_m]Leonid[/name_m] ‘Leo’
Nicklav ‘Nico’
[name_m]Kaspian[/name_m] ‘Kip’
[name_m]Julius[/name_m] ‘Jules’ ‘Jay’
[name_m]Konrad[/name_m]
[name_m]Aleksey[/name_m]

Sibling names… maybe (or middles)
[name_f]Danica[/name_f], [name_u]Tarian[/name_u], [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f], [name_u]Sloane[/name_u], [name_u]Rhodes[/name_u], [name_f]Estella[/name_f], [name_m]Martin[/name_m], [name_u]Davie[/name_u], [name_f]Minette[/name_f], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_f]Minerva[/name_f], [name_m]Rainer[/name_m], [name_f]Aavya[/name_f], [name_f]Ande[/name_f], [name_f]Iskra[/name_f], [name_f]Zora[/name_f], [name_u]Vesper[/name_u], [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f]
