Well, I’m less than 2 weeks away from my due date and we still have no name for this baby girl. Yesterday, my mom suggested [name]Melia[/name]. She heard it on tv, and the girl had a sister named [name]Isla[/name], which is our older daughter’s name. So now its sticking in my head, and my husband didn’t shoot it down, so I guess that’s progress.
[name]Just[/name] looking for opinions:
Is [name]Melia[/name] a common spelling? I think its the one I like best.
Does it work as a sister for [name]Isla[/name] [name]Marie[/name]?
Does it sound good with the middle name [name]Violet[/name]?

i’m not sure the pronunciation when i read it. is the stress on the first syllable like muh-lia or is it melly-a. is it like the president’s daughter’s name? i know that spelling is malia.

if it’s that pronunciation i think it sounds good with violet as a mn.

also, milia is a skin condition so i hope the pronunciation doesn’t sound like that!

I like it, but [name]Violet[/name] [name]Melia[/name] would be perfect! [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Isla[/name] would be a great pair.

I do like [name]Violet[/name], but my mother-in-law’s name is [name]Viola[/name]. (Which is one reason we were going to use [name]Violet[/name] as a middle name to honor her.) So I didn’t know if it would be weird/confusing to have a [name]Violet[/name] and a [name]Viola[/name]…

I think [name]Violet[/name] and Island sound too similar, so I definitely like [name]Violet[/name] better as a middle in your case. I think [name]Malia[/name] is a fabulous name.

I like [name]Melia[/name]. I’ve only seen it spelled [name]Malia[/name] and [name]Maliyah[/name], but i think i like it better your way.

[name]Melia[/name] [name]Violet[/name] is a cute combination and it sounds good with your other daughter’s name. I second the [name]Amelia[/name] suggestion, I like [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Violet[/name] even better.

To me when I read the spelling [name]Melia[/name] I think its meant to be pronounced like the end of the name [name]Amelia[/name]. I think if you want it to be pronounced like obamas daughter then spell it that way, it might save pronounciation/spelling issues later. [name]Malia[/name] [name]Violet[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Malia[/name] and especially [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Violet[/name] are all beautiful names to go with the stunning name [name]Isla[/name].
