I heard the name Meridian on a television show today and was intrigued.
What do you think?
It’s a lovely sound, a familiar word, and not a bad meaning.
[name]Do[/name] you it would better suit a boy or a girl?
I like nn’s [name]Meri[/name], [name]Rida[/name], [name]Diane[/name], [name]Rina[/name], Midi. Or for a boy [name]Dan[/name] or [name]Rian[/name] or Rid.
I actually like it. There was a writeup on appellation mountain a ways back, and I thought it was pretty workable. I think if you’re not a nicknamer, it works better for a boy. It’s most intuitive nicknames are pretty distinctly feminine though. Honestly, it’s a middle name to me.
I used to work with a lady who had a daughter named Meridian. She was about 10 I think? I remember being very intrigued and I came to love it. I think it’s definitely better for a girl. And it would definitely be okay for a first name.
Ooh, that’s so interesting! I bet it’s one of those names that becomes better and better the more you hear it. And just to be clear, I meant it was middle name territory for my own naming style. I love word names in the middle!
In agreement with the last two posters. I like it but it’s more of a character name - I can’t see it on a real person. Although, that could largely be because where I’m from one of the major power companies is Meridian [name]Energy[/name]!
To me it’s definitely feminine, having the same sound/vibe as [name]Meredith[/name], [name]Merida[/name], and friends, but I strongly dislike it as all that comes to mind is the thing that separates lanes of traffic.
I think there are plenty of other names with similar sounds that have better meaning/imagery.
Interesting for sure, but it is a major street name where I live. Definitely would be strange around here. Like naming your child Main [name]Street[/name].
