Which do you prefer? [name_f]Merritt[/name_f] or [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f]? What are the vibes of each in your opinion?
[name_f]Merritt[/name_f] ![]()
They’re both nice, but I love Marlowe’s sound!! There’s something so fun about it. I imagine a [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] as a very unique, effortlessly cool, artsy and creative young woman.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Merritt[/name_f] has more of a cute preppy vibe to me.
I love [name_f]Merritt[/name_f] and prefer it over [name_f]Marlow[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f], and [name_f]Marlow[/name_f] more as middle name ![]()
I like both more for boys, but would choose [name_f]Merritt[/name_f].
I prefer Marlowe - I love the look, sound and associations with writing. I like the idea of Merritt but I know someone with the name; she’s lovely but her name sounds screechy in my accent. My sense is that itt sounds & works much nicer in rhotic accents.
Vibes:
Marlowe - British, artsy, bookish and hip, warm and a little unpredictable.
Merritt - American, southern belle, studious, head cheerleader, bright and effective.
…thinking I may prefer both as middle names.
I love [name_f]Merritt[/name_f]. Sophisticated, timeless sound.
ah, this is so tough!
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Merritt[/name_f] is warm, zippy, confident and sweet at the same time
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] is literary, stylish and friendly!
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] is my favourite, I think, but I do love both
I like both, but [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] feels more drawn out and [name_f]Merritt[/name_f] is snappier. [name_f]In[/name_f] this case I think I like the zip of [name_f]Merritt[/name_f] a little better, plus I really love [name_f]Meri[/name_f] / [name_f]Merri[/name_f] as a nickname!
[name_f]Merritt[/name_f] is my favorite!
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Merritt[/name_f] feels preppy and wholesome and intelligent, friendly and likable, full of good character and integrity, a good student, a good friend.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] feels more surnamey, preppy and intelligent, but not necessarily as wholesome and full of integrity? [name_f][/name_f] For me anyway. [name_f][/name_f] I like both but [name_f]Merritt[/name_f] is close to my heart. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Love[/name_f] that it is a virtue name that works equally well for any gender.
Both are lovely but I prefer the whimsy soft literacy choice of [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] ![]()
[name_f]Marlowe[/name_f]
[name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] is my favorite, though they’re both so pretty! [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] just feels a little more laid back and cool, with a gentle sound that I just love.
I like the thought of those nicknames too!
Merritt gets the nod from me. It isn’t a name I ever considered before, but it’s really grown on me, ever since watching Dept. Q on Netflix. Part of me wonders if Merritt might see a boost in usage, because of the show. Anyway, I digress, I think my reason for preferring Merritt, is the potential of Merry/Merri as a short form.

[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]This show is so good!!!
[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]Summary
[name_f][/name_f]It’s my favourite show of the year, not even close!
[name_f][/name_f]I prefer [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f], I like the literary reference and that it shares sounds with established Charlotte/Arlo, but it also has that ye olde worlde -e which is just so appealing! I agree with others that [name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] sounds like an effortlessly cool, artistic person. [name_f]Merritt[/name_f] is nice too, but for me it always looks like it has too many letters (as opposed to [name_f]Merit[/name_f], I guess [name_f][/name_f]- my brain reads it like Merritttt).
[name_f]Merritt[/name_f]! It’s spirited and pretty, and also has the added appeal of being close to a virtue name.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Marlowe[/name_f] is a lovely name too, just getting very popular. I know IRL two baby Marlow/es born just this year.
