Michaela

WDYT of [name]Michaela[/name]? I am really finding it appealing but I am not sure. [name]How[/name] would you pronounce it? I have heard both “[name]Michael[/name]-uh” and “Muh-[name]Kay[/name]-luh”. I am not sure if I would consider it for my list or not. I want some opinions to help me decide whether or not I like it enough.

I pronounce it like muh-kay-la and I find it much more appealing than michael-a. I think [name]Michaela[/name]'s a nice name.

I especially love Micaela, the Spanish/Italian version. I once went to school with a girl named Micaela Kirsten, nn Caela.
Pronunciation: Mi-kayl-a.

I also pronounce it muh-kay-la and prefer that prn. I’ve also heard mick-[name]ELLa[/name], which is nice. I like the name. [name]One[/name] challenge is it sounds identical or nearly identical to [name]Makayla[/name], and I wonder if everyone would spell it that way.

It’s on my list of middle names to honour my dad. We pronounce it “muh-[name]KAY[/name]-la” as well, and won’t use it up front thanks to [name]Makayla[/name]/[name]Mikayla[/name]/[name]McKayla[/name] et al. It’s a gorgeous name and sometimes I think we should use it as a first anyway, but we won’t.

I pronounce and greatly prefer it mi-kay-la, ma-kay-la sounds lazy and wrong to me and I hate the [name]Makayla[/name] spelling because of that. [name]Michael[/name]-a is ok but likely will be mispronounced.

I would pronounce it my-KEL-ah.

It’s not really my style anyway you want to say it or spell it - the “mikayla” prounciation just feels very late 90’s to me.

I think the spelling of [name]Michaela[/name] is the spelling, classic and beautiful. I hate the trendy spellings. I do like the name. I think it’s cute, and ages well as I know a few [name]Michaela[/name]'s/[name]Mikayla[/name]'s my age.

I like the spelling [name]Michaela[/name] and I would pronounce it Mi-[name]Kay[/name]-La. I’ve never heard this name pronouced [name]Michael[/name]-A. The name is not my style, however. I know it’s an old name but it seems '90s to me, like “[name]Madison[/name]”

I say it mih-[name]KAY[/name]-lah. In theory I like it because it’s the traditional Italian spelling of the name and I know it’s much classier, but I fairly strongly dislike [name]Michael[/name] and [name]Michaela[/name] doesn’t look all that appealing to me. Trendy though it is, if I wanted to actually use a spelling of the name, I would probably use [name]McKayla[/name]. I know, I know, it’s awful, haha, but I can’t help but like it. A little bit.

Either way, though, [name]Michaela[/name]/[name]Kayla[/name]/[name]Kaylee[/name] is so overdone and trendy and tired that it’s not really my thing. I hear those three names ALL over the place (more so about five years ago, but still) and it’s just not my thing.

The first time I saw [name]Michaela[/name], though, I thought it really was [name]Michael[/name]-ah and I thought it was the dumbest name ever, lol. Then again, I was probably fifteen at the time, and really opinionated.

Thanks everyone! I actually prefer the [name]Michael[/name]-ah pronunciation and I hate the name [name]Kayla[/name]. I guess I just need to let this one go or she would always be correcting people on how to say her name.

I pronounce is [name]Mick[/name]-kay-la. I personally love this name. It’s pretty.

I like it and pronounce it Muh-[name]KAY[/name]-LA. Lots of pretty nickname possibilities, and it’s well-known without being over-done.

I was brought up in Italian neighbourhoods and I have always pronounced it Mee-kye-el-la, long i in the middle. That’s the only pronunciation I like. While I like the name [name]Michael[/name] very much, the name just reminds me of the dorky soprano role in [name]Carmen[/name].

I also say “mah-kay-luh,” and I fall into the camp that first thought it was “[name]Michael[/name]-uh,” lol. I hated it, and then I saw it on Dr. [name]Quinn[/name]: Medicine Woman," which premiered somewhere around 1993 or 1994. I really think that character had a LOT to do with the name becoming so popular so quickly in the mid to late 90s. I really liked it until it became so popular, too.

I have a friend with the name and she says Mic-kay-luh, so that’s the way I always think of it.

I like the name & I think [name]Mikey[/name] would be a super-cute nn
