Mickhaeyla!?

I’m shocked that there isn’t an apostrophe or a random letter “Q” in there. Isn’t Mi’Qhaeylah gorgeous, you guys??!?

(Reminds me, the other week I actually met a mother who MADE A POINT to tell me her daughter’s name was [name_u]McKinley[/name_u], spelled McKynnlei. Because “lei” is totally pronounced that way.)

My goodness how could someone do that!!!

Why is [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f] any different to Mickhaeyla?

They’re both bad spellings of quite a pretty name.

Hehe. I remember when I was young and naive and this whole trend had just gotten started… I truly believed parents changed the spelling because they wanted to change the pronunciation. Once, I called a little Kylsie “kill-sey” at registration for a summer dance camp and the LOOK the mother gave me was just murderous. “Its [name_u]KELSEY[/name_u],” she said. Like I was the idiot.

One of my best friends names is [name_f]Michaela[/name_f], and she is always correcting people on how to spell it. “It’s [name_u]Michael[/name_u] with an a”. I’ve heard it so many times that I know the exact words she uses! The poor Michheeyla would be going on forever, “It’s [name_m]Mick[/name_m] plus ha plus e y l a.” [name_f]Every[/name_f] time her name would be spelled wrong!

Ouch haha, [name_f]Mikayla[/name_f]'s my sister’s name, and the more popular spelling in the US.
