Ages 39 and under
Every year, roll a d20 for each individual.
0-5:
1-4 = passes away
6-10:
1-3 = passes away
11-15:
1-2 = passes away
16+:
1 = passes away
If you roll a 20, a future death roll is negated.
Feel free to make up the cause of death.
Remarriage is allowed in the case of death.
Individuals 17+ can get betrothed. Every year, roll a d20. 14-20 = betrothal. The couple will be married the next year. These rules apply for remarriages.
Births
Every year, roll a d20 for each married couple between the ages of 18 and 40.
14-20 = baby born
20 = twins, +1 baby for each consecutive 20.
Gender:
evens = girl, odds = boy
Roll a d20 for both the mother and the infant. Whoever rolls a 1 passes away.
You can choose to stop rolling for births at any time.
Ages 40 and up
The life expectancy in the middle ages was very short.
Every year, roll a die corresponding to the age of each individual.
40-45: roll a d20.
46-50: roll a d12.
51-55: roll a d10
56-60: roll a d8
61-65: roll a d6
65+ roll a d4
rolling a 1 = passing away
In 1342, the first part of the Hundred Year War comes to a close.
War Rules
Roll a d20 for each enlisted soldier. If they roll a 1, they pass away. Otherwise, they can return home.
In 1347, roll a d4 for every man ages 15-35. If they roll a 1, they go to war for 5 years. You will roll for results in 1352.
In 1348, the Black Death sweeps Europe.
Plague Rules
Roll a d6. 1-2 = death.
If both parents of anyone under 17 should die, the orphaned children should be taken in by the sibling of one of the parents. If no siblings exist, invent a relative, place the children in their care, and continue to play.
Choose one child to be the “heir” of the household you’re playing with. Keep track of at least one other household.
