We’re expecting our third child in early [name_f]April[/name_f] and think we have decided on a girls name.
Originally it was between [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] but I “think” we have decided that [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is her name (if it’s a she!).
Problem is we are having trouble coming up with a great middle name to go with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. Our short list is the following:
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Leia[/name_f] - meant to honour a strong female character/woman [name_f]Leia[/name_f] Organa/[name_f]Carrie[/name_f] [name_m]Fisher[/name_m], but is it too obviously [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars geeky, especially since we are [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars fans? This is the same reason I just can’t use [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] (love HP!).
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Raina[/name_f] - our last name starts with a B so I’m not keen on initials BRB, but also not sure if I actually care as it is a modified family name. Does anyone even use BRB (be right back) anymore?
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] would have been [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Raine[/name_f].
Basically I’m looking for name suggestions (or confirmation on either of the two above) that represents a strong influential woman or character as a middle name.
I like the sound of [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Leia[/name_f]. I think 2 - 3 syllables would be best for the middle name since [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] is so short. I use BRB but I’m 25, I’m not sure if the younger generations do or not. Either way, I don’t use my initials very often, and if she’s a girl she may change her name when she gets married anyways!
Out of [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Leia[/name_f] and [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Raina[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Leia[/name_f].
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] (wonder woman/princess)
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] (gone with the wind)
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Raina[/name_f] is lovely, and I don’t think the initials are a big issue. [name_f]Leia[/name_f] is lovely too, but it is very [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars and is a surprising choice if you’re not big fans.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], for the constellation and the heroine of the His Dark Materials trilogy?
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Leia[/name_f] and [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Raina[/name_f] are both very pretty. If you are using [name_f]Leia[/name_f] with the [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars character in mind, and really like [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars in general, I think any concerns with it appearing very geeky are rather pointless - because it is! But there’s nothing wrong with that if that’s what you want.
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] Tubman]

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f] [from [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings]
I’m not sure if any of those are really your style - I kinda got stuck on the “influential women / characters” thing!
Out of your picks I would go with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Leia[/name_f]. I personally love the [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars reference! But, if you’re not completely sold on it what about:
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_u]Arya[/name_u]/[name_f]Aria[/name_f] ([name_u]Arya[/name_u] Strak from GOT/ASOIAF)

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Jewel[/name_f] ([name_f]Izetta[/name_f] [name_f]Jewel[/name_f]; first woman to run for U.S. Senate in the south and first to give a seconding speech for a presidential candidate in a political party convention)
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] ([name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_m]Roosevelt[/name_m])

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Rheta[/name_f] ([name_f]Rheta[/name_f] Childe [name_m]Dorr[/name_m], first editor of The Suffragist)
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] ([name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] of [name_f]England[/name_f])
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ([name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] I of [name_f]England[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_m]Stanton[/name_m], [name_f]Lizzie[/name_f] [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] from Pride and Prejudice)

[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] ([name_f]Florence[/name_f] Nightingale)
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] (Beezus’ name in [name_f]Ramona[/name_f] & Beezus)
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Laura[/name_f] ([name_f]Laura[/name_f] Ingalls from The [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_u]Prairie[/name_u])
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] ([name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_m]Beauchamp[/name_m] from the Outlander series)
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] ([name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]'s [name_m]Web[/name_m])
I think both [name_f]Leia[/name_f] and [name_f]Raina[/name_f] work, but out of those I prefer [name_f]Raina[/name_f] with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]. I also think [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] would be great - I don’t think it’s just associated with HP. [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] was used before HP, and there are well known British actresses called [name_f]Hermione[/name_f].
Thank you all for the very thoughtful suggestions and comments. I feel more confident in our first two choices but also there’s some great alternatives suggested.
