We still love [name_f]Isla[/name_f] for this baby, if it is a girl. However, I’m wavering on the middle(s). It makes me feel embarrassed at the idea of announcing her full name to people and, while it could just be hormones, I don’t think our baby’s name should make me feel that way. In any case, it certainly couldn’t hurt to explore other options.
DH picked [name_f]Isla[/name_f], so I get a bit more weight in selecting her middle name(s). Still, any middle would have to get his approval, too. It’s our baby and that is important to me. I have put together a few ideas without his input, just to see what sort of styles could work.
Ideas:
*go with either [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] or with [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]. Both may be a bit much.
*[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]/[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]: I’ve come around to this name many times because I think it is really beautiful and a bit unexpected as a middle name.
*[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]: I know [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] tend to be somewhat expected NB names, but I like the sound and the meaning “she who brings happiness; blessed” stands out, especially with our journey to having this baby.
*[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]: This one is a bit GP for me. The flow isn’t great but [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] is a bit dear to my heart. It brings back treasured memories of watching [name_u]Golden[/name_u] Girls with my mom and sisters and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] Getty’s [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] was our favorite.
*[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]/[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f]: This has two connections for me. My late great-grandmother was named [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f] and occasionally went by [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I didn’t know her but her love and influence made a huge different in my mom’s life, which in turn changed the direction of our family. It would mean a lot to my mom and grandpa to see this used. The other meaning is more tangible to me. One of my teachers in grade school was named [name_f]Janet[/name_f] and she was murdered. This woman taught me a lot about life, not just education. Her influence and memories still stick with me to this day, nearly 20 years later.
This is what I have so far. I may eventually try out other middles but felt this was a decent start. Any insight, comments, or suggestions would be very welcome.
