My wife and I have chosen [name]Kosta[/name] for the baby boy we’re expecting! But, now we are at a complete loss for a middle name. We haven’t been able to find anything we like while searching on our own or anything that fits with [name]Kosta[/name]. A friend of my wife told me you guys could help Here are a few quick criteria that we’d like in a (middle ) name:
3 or more syllables, definitely not two syllables, but maybe one
nothing that starts with r
a strong meaning: we’re really into the meaning of names ([name]Kosta[/name] means “steadfast”) and we’d love something that has a strong meaning to be proud of or something that works with [name]Kosta[/name]'s meaning
We are possibly considering the alternative spellings [name]Costa[/name] or [name]Kostas[/name], but the first is too much like [name]Costa[/name] [name]Rica[/name] to me and [name]Kostas[/name] has a “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” reference, my wife claims, and she doesn’t like that. We truly love [name]Kosta[/name] though, so we really want to find a middle name that works. [name]TIA[/name]!
Thank you so much for all your suggestions! Actually, I think that [name]Marcos[/name] would be a cool first name for a potential sibset with [name]Kosta[/name]. I think they both compliment each other without being too similar. I also like how the positions of the 'o’s and 'a’s in both names are flipped (but that might be overthinking it )
We like from your list:
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Xanthos[/name]
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Aurelius[/name]
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Jamison[/name]
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Romero[/name]
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Leo[/name] (this would mean “steadfast lion”, which I think is really cool!)
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Cornelius[/name] or [name]Costa[/name] [name]Kees[/name] (I’m liking this alliteration!)
Your suggestions were an awesome jumping off point for us. Thanks again!
I think the names that you chose from my list were my favourites too.
It is an excellent idea to have a future sibset in mind and I agree that [name]Marcos[/name] would make a great name in conjunction with brother [name]Kosta[/name].
Thank you for the feedback as we nameberrites like to feel that we are on the right track in our naming suggestions.
Here’s what jumps out at me from the two lists by cecily and michaela:
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Julius[/name]
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Demetrius[/name] (or [name]Kosta[/name] [name]Demetri[/name])
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Ignatius[/name]
(I think we’re pretty attracted to old-time greek names! I think they compliment [name]Kosta[/name] since its also a greek time)
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Caius[/name]
[name]Costa[/name] [name]Keefe[/name]
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Valentino[/name]
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Andreas[/name]
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Nikolas[/name]
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Zephyrus[/name]
[name]Kosta[/name] Amicus
Ahhh! Now we have so many choices!
So, we know that we are pretty much 100% set on [name]Kosta[/name] for this first boy, but I was thinking briefly about [name]Marcos[/name] (really really loving this) and was wondering what you guys think of [name]Marcos[/name] [name]Crosby[/name]. Are -cos and -Cros too similar/too close together? [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Marcos[/name] [name]Crosby[/name] could be a sibling to say [name]Kosta[/name] [name]Ignatius[/name]? Or are they too separate? A few more that I thought fit were [name]Marcos[/name] [name]Tennyson[/name], [name]Marcos[/name] [name]Harrison[/name], and [name]Marcos[/name] [name]Philo[/name]. Thanks for any advice you have here (obviously, any [name]Marcos[/name] combos are just musings…)
Thanks for your continued thoughts, rollo. Your welcome for the feedback! I figured the faster I get back to you guys on what I like, the faster you can offer advice or more suggestions, and (maybe) the sooner I’ll have our perfect name for our little [name]Kosta[/name].
Greece and [name]Nikolas[/name] (whatever the spelling) seem synonomous so my thoughts are towards [name]Kosta[/name] [name]Nikolas[/name]. I see the attraction of [name]Ignatius[/name] but I am more drawn to other more Greek like names eg [name]Demetrius[/name].
PS In our family we have two sisters with names from Greek mythology so I am on your page re liking the Greek connection, their names are [name]Chloe[/name] and [name]Xanthe[/name].
My first boy was named after my husbands dad [name]Kosta[/name] we also got stuck so i suggested my dads name so we came up with [name]Kosta[/name] [name]Anthony[/name]. Then i had my 2nd boy and we named him [name]Anthony[/name] [name]Leith[/name]
Wow, thank you so much for posting! My wife and I had narrowed down our list to three boys names to take with us to the hospital or to narrow down before [name]Kosta[/name] is born ([name]Kosta[/name] [name]Julius[/name], [name]Kosta[/name] [name]Nikolas[/name], and [name]Kosta[/name] [name]Zephyrus[/name]), but we have fallen IN [name]LOVE[/name] with [name]Kosta[/name] [name]Lysander[/name]. It just feels perfect. and the meaning is awesome! So, thank you!
[name]Kosta[/name] [name]Lysander[/name] sounds PHENOMENAL!
I’m also adding a vote for [name]Kosta[/name] [name]Xanthos[/name].
[name]Kosta[/name] is a truly great name. (:
