Middle Name Dilemma

So I would really like to honor my mom in the middle name. Her name is [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]. [name_u]Marie[/name_u] is also my middle name. I don’t mind [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] as a middle name but my husband does not like it. He likes [name_u]Marie[/name_u], but I don’t because it is SO common! I live in the US and half the girls in my class had [name_u]Marie[/name_u] as a middle name. Things my mom is into. She is a librarian so obviously loves books, it’s something we both love and bond over. She has bees and loves bees.
The top running contender for first names is [name_f]Mable[/name_f].

What about…

Rosemarie (from Marie)
Matilda (from Roald Dahl’s Matilda)
Brontë (from the Brontë sisters)
Bee/Bea (from Bee)
Beatrix (from Beatrix Potter and Bee)
Aaron/Ari (from Sharon)

I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] is both adorable and meaningful but if your husband isn’t on board maybe try:

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] Sharie/Shari
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] - (Marie is a variation of Mary)
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] - (means bee)
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Beckett[/name_u] - (means beehive)

[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] are my favorites!

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you and your mom have a favorite book? Maybe a character’s name or the author’s name.

I love the suggestion of [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] as there’s the plant “Rose of Sharon” (Hibiscus) so that combined with [name_u]Marie[/name_u] seems perfect

I really like [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f], I relate [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] to [name_f]Rose[/name_f] because [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] comes from The [name_f]Rose[/name_f] of [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] in the bible. That feels like a perfect version of [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u].

[name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] with that link is really cool.
I love the names [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] and [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] with the link to bees too.

Names similar to Sharon…
[name_u]Shannon[/name_u]
[name_f]Sherry[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_u]Ronnie[/name_u]
[name_f]Cher[/name_f]

Names similar to Marie…
Of course there are a million but these are just a few off the top of my head, you could also always double barrel a name with [name_u]Marie[/name_u]
[name_f]Mary[/name_f]
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Maylee[/name_f]
[name_u]Arie[/name_u]

Literary names…
Once again there are a ton because you could in theory use any name of an author or character in literature. Are there any specific books that she loves a lot or maybe that you both share a love of?
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] (obviously not a good choice with the first name [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] though)
[name_m]Booker[/name_m] (usually a masculine name but I could see it being really cute on a girl as well)
[name_u]Poet[/name_u] or [name_f]Poem[/name_f]
Writer (came across this as a name recently and I really love it, it sounds similar enough to [name_u]Ryder[/name_u] to not be weird but has the sweet literary connection)
[name_u]Page[/name_u]
[name_u]Penn[/name_u]

[name_f]Bee[/name_f] names…
[name_f]Bee[/name_f] / [name_f]Bea[/name_f]
[name_f]Honey[/name_f]
[name_f]Queen[/name_f] or [name_f]Queenie[/name_f]
Keeper

[name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_f]Shara[/name_f]
[name_f]Mable[/name_f] Shaina/Shayna
[name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_u]Roni[/name_u]
[name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_f]Sherrie[/name_f]
[name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_m]Aron[/name_m]
[name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_u]Seren[/name_u]
[name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] (means honey so links to bees and [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] was one of the first novels!)
[name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_f]Marsha[/name_f]
[name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u]
[name_f]Mable[/name_f] [name_u]Marion[/name_u]

Maybe Mary or Maria instead of Marie! Or a character from a book your mom loves and you and she both love… for my mom and I, for example, a Little Women name would be a great honor name. :relaxed:

Maybe he’d be willing g to compromise with the full [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] in the middle? [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Sharon[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u]? [name_u]Or[/name_u] you could go with [name_f]Mary[/name_f], since they have the same meaning but in a modern context [name_u]Marie[/name_u] is used more as a middle than [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. [name_f]Moira[/name_f], [name_u]Marion[/name_u], [name_f]Manon[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f], [name_u]Maria[/name_u], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] are just a handful of variations of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] that could work.

There are a few names with bee or honey in the meaning, like:
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Beckett[/name_u] (Beckett means beehive)
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f] (bee)
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] / [name_f]Melisande[/name_f] (Melisande can either be a form of [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] or a form of [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], when related to [name_f]Melissa[/name_f] is means “honeybee”)
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Melinda[/name_f] / [name_f]Melita[/name_f] / [name_f]Meliora[/name_f] (honey)
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Pamela[/name_f] (all honey)
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_f]Pamina[/name_f] (little honey)

As for her love of books, what’s her favorite genre? Any authors or characters that she especially loves?

Completely different suggestion here but I have the same first and middle initials as my grandfather and while that wasn’t my parents’ intention, plenty of people thought that it was. So following this line of thinking, you could use an S-starting first name and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] as the middle name:

[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] came to mind first
[name_f]Serena[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Selah[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
