[name]Freya[/name], you make an excellent point! Gems are like flowers. They have all different flavors!
Alzora - [name]Ike[/name] & [name]Mike[/name], they think alike! And yes, there is something whimsical about an emerald! I, too, think of [name]Ireland[/name] and [name]Oz[/name], and lost cities in deep rainforests. Also, I see [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a coppery name, the white skin and russet hair of Good [name]Queen[/name] [name]Bess[/name], and the titian hair of [name]Elizabeth[/name] Siddal, the pre-Raphaelite model who posed for all of Rosetti’s paintings and [name]Millais[/name]'s [name]Ophelia[/name]. The deep bordeauxs and crimsons of Elizabethan tapestries. When you add emerald to that, it’s this rich collision of color.
[name]Emerald[/name] is the Pantone color of the year for 2013, and the words they use to describe it are perfect: lush, vivid, radiant, elegant, lively, sophisticated, verdant, prosperous, luminous, healing.
Oh, and I, too, thought of [name]Betty[/name] [name]Em[/name]! So sweet.
Justadeltagirl - never heard of Esmerie. [name]Emeraude[/name] is the French word for emerald. Where does Esmerie come from? I think I’d rather use the word, but this is an intriguing name! The author of Twilight should have consulted you before she bottomed out with [name]Renesmee[/name]. Thanks for sharing. Are you in Mississippi, by chance?
Thanks, everyone, for your opinions!
