I’m considering either [name]Annabelle[/name] or [name]Annabel[/name] for our next daughter (due in 3 weeks!) and need help on the middle name. Our last name starts with E so that rules out a lot of choices - No G’s, L’s, or P’s! And probably no B’s or C’s. Did I forget any I should rule out?
I want something vintage or classic - nothing too trendy or modern/made up.
And while we are talking, which do you prefer [name]Annabelle[/name] or [name]Annabel[/name]? I’m thinking of letting hubbie pick the spelling if he’ll agree to the name but I’m curious as to popular opinion on the two spellings.
I would definitely spell it [name]Annabel[/name]-- it’s much less frilly, and I think it’s the original spelling (from [name]Amabel[/name]). For initials, I don’t think [name]ACE[/name], AGE, or [name]ABE[/name] are too bad-- they aren’t negative, like APE.
[name]Annabel[/name] is lovely! I usually prefer the more streamlined [name]Annabel[/name] over the frillier [name]Annabelle[/name], though I like both names. For middle initials, I would probably avoid T because of ATE. There’s also K because of AKE, or “ache”, and L because the L sounds in [name]Annabel[/name] and L____ would run into each other.
[name]How[/name] many syllables is your last name?
wow! so far all votes for [name]Annabel[/name]! that’s interesting to me. i’m really liking
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
Our last name is 2 syllables so I think I like a shorter middle.
I prefer [name]Annabelle[/name], because [name]Annabel[/name] looks incomplete.
my favourite combinations:
[name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Suzanne[/name]/[name]Susanne[/name]
[name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Marigold[/name] (or maybe just [name]Marie[/name])
[name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] (A.C.E. -> ace is actually rather a cute nickname)
[name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Juniper[/name]
We have an [name]Annabel[/name]. As you can see, we went with the original spelling. We thought that [name]Annabelle[/name] just seemed overly frilly. We, too, had a hard time with middle names and eventually decided on using a combination of family names. Our DD is [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Rosemary[/name].
