My husband and I love the name [name]Belle[/name] but we are stuck on the middle name. We are trying to just have her first name be [name]Belle[/name] and not [name]Isabelle[/name], etc.
Any suggestions for a middle name would be very helpful!
[name]Belle[/name] is very sweet! I obviously prefer the longer [name]Isabelle[/name], lol, but I would probably use the nn [name]Belle[/name] about 80% of the time and I think just [name]Belle[/name] is so charming, too! Iāve always been partial to [name]Belle[/name] [name]Carolina[/name] (care-oh-leen-ah).
I think that [name]Belle[/name] is gorgeous, itās always been a favorite of mine! The only problem with [name]Belle[/name] is that itās kind of difficult to pair a middle name with. What about some of theseā¦
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Amelia[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Madeline[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Delilah[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Ariana[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name]
I think [name]Belle[/name] is very hard to pair with names because itās not actually a name, I think something starting with a vowel would work best but I cant think of any names off the top of my head.
Wow, that is hard to pair with a mn!!!
Depends on how long your lastname is. If it is 3 go for 2 syllables and visa versa.
OK here goes my ideas which range from classic to more obscure:
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Shania[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Cheyenne[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Yvette[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Ariana[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] (this makes me think of ābeautifulā āroseā)
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Sapphire[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Azure[/name]
[name]Belle[/name] [name]Tatum[/name]
lol. I was waiting for someone to comment on that.
My best friend, who lived in [name]Paris[/name] the majority of her life, felt the same way. ā[name]Belle[/name]ā is the French word for ābeautifulā so there it just is not seen as a name. My friend had a classmate whose name was [name]Isabella[/name] nn [name]Bella[/name] and she (and everyone she knew) felt it was extremely pretentious because there [name]Bella[/name] is just the Italian word for ābeautifulā, just like [name]Belle[/name] is the French word for beautiful. I think it would be similar to someone giving their daughter the fn Gorgeous here. It is just incredibly pretentious and isnāt like a name at all. I have always felt the same about [name]Jolie[/name]āmost Americans think itās a very pretty name, but in [name]France[/name], itās just the French word for āprettyāā¦
Yeah I understand, I took French, lol. I have native Italian speakers chuckle at my name because it means cute, but it doesnāt make it less of a real name⦠I guess it was an off-putting way of expressing that it was a name that is also a word meaning in another language. I canāt think of any others off the top of my head, but its not that unheard ofā¦
Yeah, I donāt know. I mean, I think itās seen differently in other countries. Things are a lot freer in [name]America[/name], but according to this article (Illegal Baby Names From Around The World) [name]Belle[/name]/[name]Jolie[/name] arenāt the only words in other languages that arenāt that acceptable as given names. Some are rightly horrid but I would think a name that means ābridgeā or āFridayā in another culture wouldnāt be that bad. I mean, [name]Bridger[/name], [name]Bridget[/name], [name]Sunday[/name], and [name]Wednesday[/name] are all considered by parents here! I think [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Jolie[/name] just fit in the same category. Here, theyāre seen as names, but in [name]France[/name], theyāre really not. I had suggested something like [name]Eliza[/name] or [name]Eloise[/name] when my friend was pregnant with her triplets, and she loved the names, and the sound of [name]Elle[/name] as a nn, but she wouldnāt [name]Elle[/name] because over there, it just means āsheā. (Not trying to give you a whole new French lesson, haha, I figured you knew some French b/c of your username⦠just for the benefit of everyone if they want to knowā¦)
I think itās interesting to see how names completely change from country to country/person to person!
I love your choice of [name]Belle[/name] ^^ [name]How[/name] about playing off its meaning and try for a middle name that would mean something combined? (granted in actual French the nouns almost always come first, but hey, who needs grammar, right? >.<)
If that idea is a little too out there, I like these combos:
Belle Delilah
Belle Savannah
Belle Tatiana
Belle Winter
Belle Caressa
Belle Justine
Belle Cosette
Belle Rosalie
Belle Phaedria
Belle Fiona
Belle Yvette
@ash - lol totally forgot that my user name was in French⦠But I guess I did think that about [name]Elle[/name]. It is popular in my area and I remember thinking it was weird because I just hear āshe.ā
OP- sorry for hijacking your thread. I will give you some suggestions.
Its just the french word for beautiful, its like a french person naming their child Beautiful, itās just odd to me but itās not offensive or anything, just an every day common word.
Wanted to add I dont mean to come across rude or off putting, in this or any of my posts. I also post on French boards where people are very opinionated and brutally honest, I should probably try and switch gears before I post on here so I apologize if I have offended anyone.
