My husband has two girls ([name]Xandra[/name] and [name]Malanie[/name]) and we have a new baby girl ([name]Phaedra[/name]), my first. If the next is a girl, she will be [name]Clara[/name], which is my grandmother’s middle name. I am stuck on a middle name, though. [name]Clara[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name] has come to mind, [name]Clara[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] is nice too (but don’t want anyone to call her CJ!); any other mn ideas?
Also, if the next is a boy, we are clueless about names. Without meaning it, the three girls all have two As in their names. My husband’s name has one A and my name has one A, and retroactively, that’s so cute! So it was awesome that [name]Clara[/name] fit in that pattern, even after we had chosen it as our next name. My husband doesn’t mind made up names or names with a twist, but I want names to be real and I tend toward classic without being stale or trendy. I decided when I was 12 that [name]Phaedra[/name] was my first daughter’s name and held on to it for 23 years! I am just not excited about any boy names! Some I’ve been so-so, leaning positive, about: [name]Sebastian[/name] (my husband hates it because there was a club singer with that name!), [name]Alden[/name] (but spelling looked too much like [name]Aiden[/name] for me, too trendy), [name]Hayes[/name] (but wary of [name]Haze[/name] confusion), and [name]Anderson[/name] (but my husband said it made him think of windows). Argh! He likes [name]Kieran[/name], but I’m iffy on it. Can anyone help? And maybe throw in some boy names with two As, just for fun! Not necessary, but neat!
I think the names you guys have chosen are unique and different but still known. I think these names reflect that.
I would go with [name]Keane[/name] (which means ancient) or [name]Cian[/name] instead of [name]Kieran[/name]. I like [name]Kieran[/name] though. I believe it’s the male form of [name]Keira[/name].

I love [name]Clara[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name]! [name]How[/name] beautiful. I’m horrible at [name]Clara[/name] combos, I’ve dropped it from my own list in the past because I couldn’t find anything I loved. I do think [name]Clara[/name] [name]Liv[/name] would be nice, though ([name]Liv[/name]'s a full Scandinavian name, meaning “life”, or a Scandinavian variant of [name]Elizabeth[/name], meaning “my God is a vow”, depending on which site you look–both meanings are nice, imo).
I do have a few ideas for a boy, though.
[name]Ciaran[/name] (the original Gaelic spelling–I love this so much more than [name]Kieran[/name]! Still pronounced [name]KEER[/name]-ahn. I think it’s lovely with [name]Xandra[/name], [name]Malanie[/name], and [name]Phaedra[/name], too)
[name]Caspar[/name] (I think most Berries intuitively spell it [name]Casper[/name], but the French [name]Caspar[/name]–or even [name]Gaspard[/name]–would get you the two "A"s)
[name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Alban[/name] ([name]Alba[/name] seems to be catching on, so I don’t know why [name]Alban[/name] for a boy couldn’t! I think it’s handsome)
[name]Amadeus[/name]
[name]Alistair[/name]/[name]Alasdair[/name] (although [name]Alasdair[/name] has 3 "A"s)
[name]Aurelian[/name]
[name]Barnaby[/name]
[name]Callan[/name]
[name]Isaiah[/name]
[name]Reagan[/name] (too unisex? I love it for a boy, but I know others don’t…)
[name]Santiago[/name] (too international?)
[name]Zachary[/name]/[name]Zachariah[/name] (although [name]Zachariah[/name] has 3 "A"s, again)
[name]Even[/name] though it only has one “A”, I really like the idea of [name]Sullivan[/name] with your girls, too.
[name]Clara[/name] is such a lovely name, very timeless. I love [name]Phaedra[/name] too (especially because it’s a girls name and in this case it’s given to a girl cough[name]Peaches[/name] Geldofcough) [name]Beatrix[/name] is a good middle name for [name]Clara[/name], it sounds so regal.
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Zenobia[/name] (I love the sound of it, but [name]Zenobia[/name] might be too out-there for you, I don’t know)
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Hedwig[/name] (I love it, however I do know it sounds rather old-fashioned ;))
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Joanna[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Alexandra[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Emmanuelle[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name] (too sugar-sweet?)
[name]Clara[/name] Maximilienne (one of my favourite pairings, had to put it on here)
Boys names with two A’s:
[name]Akiva[/name]
[name]Alexander[/name]
[name]Amadeus[/name]
[name]Archibald[/name]
[name]Asa[/name]
[name]Matthias[/name]
[name]Maximilian[/name]
[name]Clara[/name] was the name we had picked for our son if he was a girl. We never did settle on a middle name, I was constantly changing my mind, but here’s what was on our list:
As for boys, it’s hard to think of names that [name]DON[/name]'T have an A in! [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Adam[/name], [name]Zachary[/name], [name]Nathan[/name]/[name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Jonathan[/name], [name]Adrian[/name], [name]Malachi[/name], [name]Barnaby[/name], [name]Raphael[/name] and [name]Abram[/name] are great names with two A’s
