So, we are still trying to pin down a middle name for our little girl due in [name_u]June[/name_u]. These are ideas so far-
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]- due in [name_u]June[/name_u], plus like the vintage, fun vibe it has.
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]- very good chance she could also come in [name_f]May[/name_f], because I’m due in very early [name_u]June[/name_u] and may end up needing a scheduled c section. DH likes this a lot. I think it is super sweet, but very ‘country’ almost hick.
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]- Also love the vintage yet modern vibe of [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]. I like that it adds some girliness to [name_f]Cora[/name_f].
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]- baby was supposed to be [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], but due to some family issues once we mentioned the name, it’s not worth the fight to use it. So this is an alternative, though I’m not sure I love the ‘ah’ endings of both names. I do [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the nickname [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] though. And the literary connection.
I keep going back and forth on what I like. I like the idea of a girly name to compliment [name_f]Cora[/name_f], but I also think a tomboy-ish (unisex) name could be cute. I wouldn’t necessarily use these, but names like [name_u]Lou[/name_u] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] are cute. But so are names like [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
I guess I just need some opinions and suggestions!!
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is so sweet and elegant- it’s definitely my favourite :). I really like the contrast between the two, as well as the classic / vintage feel they share. It is very feminine without being frilly or over the top. The others are lovely, but [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] really shines for me.
If you are after suggestions, I really like the idea of [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], which I think is both very sweet and feminine, yet quite spunky. However, I still think that [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is beautiful and is an utterly stunning combination.
I love [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] but both ending in a makes it less appealing, so I lean towards [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] which I think is beautiful. I’m not as fond of [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] or [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], they sound more country to me.
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is definitely my favourite! [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is my second fave, both really sweet choices.
[name_f]May[/name_f] feels a bit predictable, sorry. [name_f]Louise[/name_f] does too, but [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] feels less expected. The double a endings aren’t my favourite, but they aren’t terrible in this combo.
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is great! And [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] is a great nn. Bummer about the family. I don’t like [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] so much though. Have you thought about [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]? Could still call her [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]. Of your other options, I like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] the most
I like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is cute too. Another suggestion would be [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] & [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f].
My top picks are [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] in that order. ([name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is right up there, too, but realize you want something different.)
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is okay. My only hesitation is the /a/ endings of each. It almost makes them compete rather than compliment each other. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] has better flow. I agree with your concerns over [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], which – when carefully considered – has a slight hillbilly feel to it.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] ([name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lu[/name_f])?
Otherwise, I actually really like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]. It looks strong, sweet, vintage. I don’t think it sounds hill-billy. You could elongate it to avoid that feeling however:
Thanks everyone! I think [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f] is out. I really love [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], and that is probably my top choice right now. I’m just a little bummed that [name_f]Cora[/name_f]'s name won’t be as meaningful as our firstborns, who was named after my dad and has a literary nickname that is meaningful as well.
I do have a great aunt through marriage named [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], but not much else besides that it does appear on our family tree.
[name_f]Louise[/name_f] honestly was perfect, but it has been almost more trouble than it is worth. Which is why I’m still not ready to let go of [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], even though it doesn’t sound the best.
I am really loving [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]'s sweet, vintage spunk though…
It’s too bad [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] is out of picture now, it’s truly lovely. If you don’t mind a double C (I love alliteration), I like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f].
I can see why [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is your front runner… so pretty. I would explore names that begin with R though. Like a [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f] or something like that.
I’m not a huge fan of an ‘r’ name in the middle, because it is hard to say with the ‘r’ at the end of [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. For example, [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] was on our list but it just doesn’t seem to flow correctly for me.
I am thinking about [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] though! My one huge craving has been clementines, so I thought it was kind of cute. But not sure I love the alliteration, or that DH would agree to it!
Oh I love [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]. But we have a tradition in my family to have a second Hawaiian middle name, so I think three middle names would be a bit too much ”
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]! I still like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f].
My name is [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is very old for a young girl. I was named after both first names of my maternal grandmother’s . I went by [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] when I was younger. But as I matured. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] became beautiful and I feel very special having both my grandmother’s names. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] is the best choice.
My favourites are [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Adelina[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. I also love a pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]!
