Berries, thank you for your suggestions in my previous thread. We are expecting twin girls. One of them will be named [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] (we are 99% sure) and the other one- [name_f]Eira[/name_f]. [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] has Scandinavian roots and it means “lily”, [name_f]Eira[/name_f] in Welsh means “snow”. What is more, [name_f]Eira[/name_f] was a Norse goddess, so both [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] are nature names and have the same roots.
We would like short, one syllable middle names. We are considering [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f].
Perhaps [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]? [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]?
Could you suggest me some middle names for [name_f]Eira[/name_f]? We are open to suggestions.
Also, do you think it’s okay to use Scandinavian names if we don’t have Scandinavian heritage?
I love [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] as sisters, and I don’t see a problem with them being Scandinavian names. I would avoid middles for [name_f]Eira[/name_f] that start with an “r” sound, as it gets a little mouthy trying to get her full name out. Some ideas:
[name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Tulip[/name_f]
[name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] works well but I’d avoid an R name with [name_f]Eira[/name_f].
[name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f]
[name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u]
I love [name_f]Eira[/name_f]!! I had never heard it before now, but it is just a gorgeous name and pairs nicely with [name_f]Sanna[/name_f]. I think it’s completely fine to use Scandinavian names even if you don’t have Scandinavian roots. [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are absolutely stunning, everything goes so well together.
I would stick with those! Great job coming up with these gorgeous combos!
[name_f]Eira[/name_f] is such a guilty pleasure name for me. I think it’s lovely. I really like [name_f]Sanna[/name_f], as well, and I think they pair so nicely. I also think it’s generally fine to use names from different cultures. Occasionally, you run into issue with it, but not often and I doubt [name_f]Eira[/name_f] or [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] are names like that. A little research (and the people on here) would definitely tell you if there were. haha [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] are beautiful, simple, feminine middles names and they sound great with [name_f]Eira[/name_f] and [name_f]Sanna[/name_f], although I would definitely go with [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] gets all jumbled in the mouth, kind of like the word ‘rural.’
I really like [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] and [name_f]Eira[/name_f] together, I don’t think you have to have Scandinavian heritage to use these names. [name_f]Sanna[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is lovely, but I agree with the others about [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] being a bit of a mouthful because of the repeating Rs. I liked the suggestion of [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Or maybe [name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]?
