Middle name for Emerson?

[name]Emerson[/name] nn [name]Emmy[/name] (after [name]Ralph[/name] [name]Waldo[/name]) is one of my favorite girl names and I’ve always had trouble coming up with that perfect middle name for it. I definitely lean toward unusual names, so ideally I’d like something to make [name]Emerson[/name] (fast becoming trendy) more unique but not so out there that it clashes. Here are some I’ve thought of:

[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Isla[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Clover[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Alixe[/name] (prn. ah-LEEKS)
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Elise[/name] (easier to say than [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Alixe[/name], but loses the individuality)
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Lilah[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Claire[/name] (very common, but I love the sound)

Of those, only [name]Alixe[/name] and [name]Clover[/name] are as unusual as I’d like. Which are your favorites? What other combos do you like?

Also, do you think middle names should flow with the nickname as well? It seems to me that the middle name is only used in formal settings, in which case the full first name would be used as well, but what do you think?

Oh I love [name]Emerson[/name]! Many on Nameberry don’t really care for unisex names, but I think it’s really cute. I however think you are going to need a more feminine middle for balance.

Two of my favorite names at the moment are [name]Lena[/name] and [name]Belle[/name], so immeadiately thought of those.
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Lena[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Belle[/name]
They actually both sound really nice with [name]Emerson[/name].

I see you like [name]Lilah[/name], what about [name]Lilac[/name]?
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Lilac[/name]
It’s more unusual and is actually easier to say.

[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Isla[/name] -I love the softness of [name]Isla[/name] balanced with [name]Emerson[/name].
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Clover[/name] -It’s cute. Personally I don’t love [name]Clover[/name], but it’s cute in the middle.
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Alixe[/name] -This would probably get confused with [name]Alex[/name], another unisex name.
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Elise[/name] -I don’t like two E initals in a row.
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Lilah[/name] -Again, I like the balancing. I think [name]Lilac[/name] is easier to say though.
[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Claire[/name] -This sounds really nice, I wish [name]Claire[/name] hadn’t caught on with everyone!

I love the name [name]Emerson[/name] for those same reasons, I just can’t get my husband behind it. I’ve always seemed to like middle names that start with A with E names.

[name]Emerson[/name] [name]Agnes[/name] is a personal favorite.

I also like [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Kaye[/name], or other similar mns.

When I was a child, I wanted to be an actress and I used to say my stage name would be [name]Ferris[/name] [name]Emerson[/name]. That was long before the movie [name]Ferris[/name] [name]Bueller[/name] ruined it for me but it still sticks in my head all these years later!

Honestly, I really like the name [name]Alixe[/name] but I think a more traditional middle name might help it flow a little more smoothly. Considering [name]Emerson[/name] is already a strong name for a girl, I think you should try the middle name [name]Alexandria[/name] or Aleksandria.

[name]Elise[/name] is very pretty too with [name]Emerson[/name] but if you are going to use it perhaps you could spell it differently with something like [name]Emerson[/name] [name]Alysse[/name] to avoid the double “E”.
