We are expecting our first baby boy in [name_u]January[/name_u] 2020, and want his first name to be [name_u]Finn[/name_u]. But we are having a hard time deciding on a middle name.
The dilemma is that our last name starts with a “P”, and I am BIG on making sure initials don’t spell anything.
Our favorite name is [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] ([name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is a family name on my husband’s side), but the initials would be FAP, and I just don’t know if I can get past the fact that that is a slang term. What does everyone think? I know there are a lot of people don’t know what the term is slang for, so we have considered just using the name anyway since we like it so much.
I am one that is not familiar with the slang but I love [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] so personally, I would go with it. On a day-to-day basis our middle names or all three initials are seldom used. In fact most of us don’t even know our acquaintance’s middle names so I don’t think it should be an issue. He would be known as [name_u]Finn[/name_u] (last name).
I know the term, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. Like the previous poster said, it’s rare that all three initials are used, and the term isn’t as obvious as other words might be.
You could also consider adding a second middle name.
I’m not familiar with the term. Could use [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Xander[/name_m] if it bothers you that much?
Very rarely would three initials be used, so I wouldn’t stress! [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is stunning, I really love it. It flows perfectly.
I hadn’t heard of the term before -is it well used where you are? If not i wouldn’t worry too much, especially as initials are so rarely used all together
[name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] could be an alternative maybe?
From the people we have talked to about it in our area, it is about half and half for people who know the term, and people who don’t. We will likely use [name_u]Finn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], and just hope that in 10+ years it will be a nonexistent slang term by then.
