Not prego, but was thinking today I’d really like to honor my great-grandpa [name]George[/name], and if we have a daughter, name her [name]Georgie[/name] after him. Looking for your lovely suggestions of middle names that go well with [name]Georgie[/name]! I’m thinking it should be pretty feminine, since [name]Georgie[/name] is not. What are your favorites?
Would you use [name]Georgie[/name] on its own, or as a NN? I absolutely love [name]Georgiana[/name], nn [name]Georgie[/name]. I think you could be a bit more diverse with [name]Georgiana[/name] (or even [name]Georgia[/name]/[name]Georgina[/name]); with just [name]Georgie[/name] I would go with something a bit more classic with [name]Georgie[/name], and definitely feminine:
After giving our son his given name ([name]Evan[/name]), and his nickname ([name]Van[/name]) that we use probably 75% of the time, I’m thinking with our next babe we’ll go straight for the nickname on the birth certificate… live and learn! Other reasons - I love [name]Georgiana[/name], but it sounds too close to my own name ([name]Janna[/name]). [name]Georgina[/name] is fine, but for some reason when I see it, my sick and twisted head thinks of vagina - pretty sure that’s just me. And [name]Georgia[/name] doesn’t flow well with our last name, which starts with an A. So if we go with [name]Georgie[/name], it’d just be straight [name]Georgie[/name]. I think. Unless I felt like I should give her a more formal version of the name, since her brother has the option! Erg… At this moment though, I’m thinking just [name]Georgie[/name].
[name]Georgie[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Georgie[/name] [name]Helena[/name] both came to mind, so great minds think alike! Thanks for your list!
[name]Georgette[/name]? I recognize you feel you’ve “learned” with [name]Evan[/name]/[name]Van[/name], but [name]Van[/name] is a name that stands on its own much more. People might hear [name]Van[/name] and not assume it’s a nickname. With [name]Georgie[/name] I feel like everyone is going to assume she’s a [name]Georgia[/name] or [name]Georgiana[/name] or something. I also am not convinced [name]Georgia[/name] sounds that bad with your last name. Lots of people have names ending in a and a surname starting with A if it’s fine. Also it sounds like you’d consider [name]Georgiana[/name] or [name]Georgina[/name] but rule them out for other reasons, not the -a problem, so why [name]Georgia[/name]?
Anyway, if you do go [name]Georgie[/name], I really like the suggestion of [name]Georgie[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name] above, and [name]Georgie[/name] [name]Vivienne[/name] comes to mind too.
