[name_f]Io[/name_f] and [name_f]Ione[/name_f] are my front runners for a baby girl at the moment. Luckily, my husband loves them too. They are simply gorgeous and unique. I prefer the Greek pronunciation with the ‘ee’ sound.
I need your help with middle names. I had a couple of names on the list:
[name_f]Juno[/name_f] (but I think [name_f]Io[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_f]Ione[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] are too much, aren’t they?)
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] (I love [name_f]Io[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ione[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f])
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] (again: too much?)
We keep looking and looking for middle names that we like with [name_f]Io[/name_f] and [name_f]Ione[/name_f]. My husband mentioned the name [name_f]Zena[/name_f], I like the sound of it but I immediately think of [name_f]Xena[/name_f] Warrior [name_f]Princess[/name_f], which isn’t bad at all (I loved the show and the character is great too). [name_f]Io[/name_f] and [name_f]Zena[/name_f] have Greek origins and when I put them together… it’s just too much. Also, [name_f]Io[/name_f] [name_f]Zena[/name_f] doesn’t go well with our daughters names ([name_f]Aria[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]).
We love mythological, outdoorsy, nature -inspired names but we are open to suggestions. Our family has Greek, Scottish and English roots.
[name_f]Io[/name_f] & [name_f]Ione[/name_f] are both great names; if it were me I’d use [name_f]Ione[/name_f] because you could always use [name_f]Io[/name_f] as a nickname, & [name_f]Ione[/name_f] has four letters, which matches w/your other girls’ names better than a two-letter name [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
W/[name_f]Ione[/name_f] I really like [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]; I’m not crazy about the repeating Is w/[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]. [name_f]Ione[/name_f] & [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] both end w/the -ee sound, so I’d only use [name_f]Romilly[/name_f] w/[name_f]Io[/name_f]. [name_f]Ione[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] is nice too, but I like [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] better.
Seconding greyblue’s suggestions of [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], & [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]; [name_u]Skye[/name_u] sounds really nice as well, although there is an actress w/the name of [name_f]Ione[/name_f] [name_u]Skye[/name_u]…IDK if that’s off-putting to you or not.
Perhaps a middle name of…
[name_f]Selene[/name_f]
[name_f]Fern[/name_f]
[name_u]Bay[/name_u]
[name_f]Reine[/name_f]
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
I also think that [name_f]Ione[/name_f] is a gorgeous addition to [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Briar[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], where [name_f]Io[/name_f] alone feels a bit clipped by comparison (and would instead make a lovely nickname). I love how the middle names of your other girls’ are elegant, but short and simple, so that’s what I mostly aimed for:
[name_f]Ione[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] is amazing! The different name endings creates good flow/balance
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Ione[/name_f] [name_f]Junia[/name_f]?
