Which of these do you prefer? And what are some other middles we should consider?
[name_u]Gray[/name_u] is a family name that we both love. I love the lilting sound of [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u], but my husband might want to save it for a first name later.
Our last name is looong and hyphenated, but begins with M and ends in -er.
From the three I prefer [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]. Although it’s got two R-s in the row, it is very spunky and fresh. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is somewhat masculine so I don’t like it for a girl and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] hasn’t got the nicest flow.
I’d suggest
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]/[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Poe[/name_u]
My favorite is [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I think it is very sweet, and I like that it is clearly a girl’s name, whereas the other two combos are more wordy, like they could possibly be a type of bird or a color.
I really like the sound of [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]! It flows so smoothly, and is such a spirited name! The only thing that might concern some berries here is that they are two nouns together. Personally, I don’t mind it. I like it the best of all three! You can even call her by both
I like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] best. The flow isn’t quite as nice as the others, but with [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] being a word name I wouldn’t use [name_u]Robin[/name_u]/[name_u]Gray[/name_u] in the middle. Plus I think because [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is so rare it’s nice to have something so classic in the middle.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] would make gorgeous sisters, though - save it!
I hadn’t thought about two word names being a problem before. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] will remain in the running, because I really like the family association as well as the sound of the name. I’m not too worried about it being ‘masculine.’
I also like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Louise[/name_f], but my husband does not. Other family names:
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f]
[name_f]Nellie[/name_f]
Liddle
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] (or [name_f]Helena[/name_f], which I prefer)
[name_f]Gail[/name_f]
Another thing I like about [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is that [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] sounds like it could be a pen name (or artist name) if our daughter wants to drop our long, hyphenated last name. Perhaps that’s why I was gravitating toward word names.
Other suggestions? I’m very open to finding new middles because I’m just gushing over [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]!
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Gail[/name_f] is lovely as well! I may like that better than [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] as it doesn’t repeat the R.
I don’t think the double word name is really a problem since they’re so different. If it was [name_u]Grey[/name_u] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] it would be an issue because it sounds like you’re describing it. And something like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] might be too much since they’re both plants. I think [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is fine though, personally. Beautiful in fact.
Have you seen [name_m]Benny[/name_m] and Joon? Joon’s full name is [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]! Super cute/kooky movie!
Others that could work: (I really like the flow with 1 syllable names)
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Vale[/name_u]
I like [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] best. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]'s flow depends on how you’re pronouncing [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - if it’s with 3 syllables, it flows well, if it’s with 4, it doesn’t flow QUITE as great. [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is pretty, it’s a bit wordy but in that order I think it’s fine.
Some other thoughts:
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_u]Clare[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Lucinda[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Lux[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Millie[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Soraya[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
I like Juniper gray, but gray seems to lacks luster. The other options don’t flow very well. Try :
Juniper Esmeralda
Juniper Ivelisse (ev-eh-lees)
Juniper Vietta(ve-etta) or even Juniper Vietta Grey
Juniper Fantine
Juniper Snow
Juniper Sapphira,
Juniper Vittoria or Juniper Vittoria Grey
Juniper Louise or Juniper Loiusa Grey
and possible Juniper Valetina.
These are just options, in the end it is best to go with a name that flows the best with your last name. I have a tendency to go very frilly with my name choices and with a name like Juniper, I personally would pair a mn or two short mn that are equally just a stunning as Juniper.
I’d go with [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] simply because I’d avoid using two word names. Word names are a tricky bunch and it may come off looking like a phrase.
