I’ve been a Nameberry lurker for several months, and am finally posting!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the name [name]Maeve[/name]. I’ve loved it for quite awhile, but am having a hard time with potential middle names, besides [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Any suggestions? Last name is Chapman. To give you an idea of names that I love (but won’t work with [name]Maeve[/name]): [name]Adalaide[/name], [name]Isla[/name], [name]Jane[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], and [name]Helena[/name].
I adore [name]Maeve[/name]! I’ve never really thought of it outside of a middle name, maybe this is why!
Here’s some options:
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Georgina[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Finola[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Rosaleen[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Eileen[/name] (really liking the “-een” ending sound for a middle)
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Aveline[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Bernadette[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lisette[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Liana[/name] (I like this one a lot)
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Penelope[/name]
I like [name]Maeve[/name] too! I think she’s got an awesome meaning.
But I’m another one who rarely thinks of [name]Maeve[/name] outside of middle name territory, as a one syllable it’s hard (but not impossible) to match up. But here are a few thoughts:
Some of these are a bit out there but they all flow pretty well with [name]Maeve[/name], which really is beautiful! I hope I helped a bit. Good [name]Luck[/name]!
Thanks for the suggestions! I really like [name]Anabel[/name], but keep hearing “may vanabel” when I put the two together. I do like the “een” ending for a middle name but don’t love any of the options so far.
What about [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lillian[/name]?
[name]Love[/name] the idea of [name]Maeve[/name] as a first name:
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Tallulah[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Taliesin[/name] - [name]Both[/name] are Celtic names. I like this pronounced [name]Maeve[/name] Tall-ee-ess-in, but in “check out a name”, it’s pronounced Tall-ess-in. I think I would just pronounce it Tall-ee-ess-in anyway since that’s how I’ve heard it pronounced. But mostly I’ve heard my husband say it, and maybe he is saying it incorrectly.
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Carolina[/name]
I really like [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]!
love [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Katherine[/name], too. Saw it above.
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Hollis[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Imogen[/name] - okay, I really love this so much!
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Celestina[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] is absolutely lovely! She’s a 2nd middle in some of my combos, and I’m another who rarely looks at her as a fn, but she is divinely soft and feminine, isn’t she?!
Anyway, I’ll stop gushing - these came to mind right away: sorry for any repeats, I skimmed over the other posts, and I’ve forgotten most of it already!
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Imogen[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Allegra[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] - I love this one
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Eleanora[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Ophelia[/name] - this one too!
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Clementine[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Emilia[/name]
Hmm. sorry I think some of them were repeats. I just have baby-brain today!
Sophiegrey - you gave me some excellent suggestions! I am REALLY loving [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Allegra[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Emelia[/name] (though would probably use the traditional [name]Amelia[/name]). Something about the “uh” sound at the end of those names really adds to the overall flow.
[name]How[/name] “out there” do you all think [name]Allegra[/name] is? [name]Maeve[/name] is already on the edge for my family and friends probably so I had originally thought a traditional middle name would be best (i.e. [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Elizabeth[/name], etc.)
I really like [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Amelia[/name], too. I think [name]Allegra[/name] is pretty (although it reminds some of the allergy drug), but I’m wondering if the Italian [name]Allegra[/name] works with the Irish [name]Maeve[/name]. Hmmm…
My oldest daughter’s name is [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I get so many complements on her name. My advice, is that [name]Maeve[/name] is a unique and powerful name, so it gives you some wiggle room when it comes to the middle. I recommend something classic and simple. Names starting with E do sound nice… [name]Elise[/name], [name]Eliza[/name]… I guess the last name comes into play a bit too. We have an Italian last name, yet it all seems to work together. After all she is half Italian and half Irish!
My youngest is [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Leila[/name], and the name suits her so well!
You have lots of good suggestions there, I am sure you will come up with something great.
I love [name]Maeve[/name] as a first name! Of your recent favorites I think [name]Cordelia[/name] and [name]Josephine[/name] sound delightful, but I also liked [name]Lisette[/name] for some reason. Good luck!
